IRS Looking For A Few Thousand New Jerseyans-To Tell Them Good News

Nov 05 2009 5:10 pm

IRSThe Internal Revenue Service is looking for a few thousand New Jerseyans — and it’s to tell them some good news. The agency announced today that it has unclaimed refund checks totaling more than $4 million for more than 3,000 Garden State taxpayers. The checks average $1,365. In most cases, the unclaimed checks were returned to the IRS due to mailing address errors. The IRS is advising taxpayers who believe they’re missing checks to go to the agency’s Web site, www.irs.gov, and click on the “Where’s My Refund?” tool. They can also call a toll-free telephone number, (800) 829-1954. AP
