Now Is The Time To Go To Trenton, By Avi Solomon

Jan 15 2010 10:06 am

school vouchersThe frum community is coming off a big victory as their protests to the to’eva bill helped contribute to its defeat. However, there is an even greater battle that needs to be fought and needs to be fought now. Gov. Christie has made school vouchers a priority in his administration, but he will have to go up against the most powerful interest group in NJ, the teacher’s union. Many think that Christie will succeed in the battle to bring school vouchers to NJ, but the reality is that he can’t succeed alone. Many NJ legislators are in the pockets of the NJEA and Christie can only get school vouchers into NJ with their corporation. These legislators won’t budge for Christie alone, but they might budge if they see crowds of New Jersians in Trenton calling for school vouchers.

The Lakewood VAAD realized the importance of opposing the To’eva bill and I hope the Lakewood VAAD as well as the frum residents of Lakewood realize the importance of supporting school vouchers by another visit to Trenton.

I assume everyone who sends their kids to the private schools in Lakewood already understands the necessity of school vouchers, but I ask the bloggers to tell of their personal struggle with tuitions in Lakewood in order to serve as a reminder.

You are right on the money on this one. Right now the two biggest challenges that we have as a community, is tution and mortgages. People are just not making ends meet . If we could lesson the burden, or at least make those who pay tuition, exempt from school taxes it would be a breath of fresh air . The tution crisis thing is taking a major toll on families, which in turn causes strife , which in turn causes many other problems. Gov Christie ran on a pro voucher platform . he hired Brett Schundler , who is a tuition voucher advocate . The Nea and teachers union has been milking us dry for decades. this is the time to act and place these unions with their unreasonable demands on the people, and put them in their place. The time for change is now.Mr Obama, you have no idea how right you were when you said change is coming . The people are so furious at you , that they are compelled to action . Change is comin, but it aint the one u had in mind Mr President!

No, Obama is not for vouchers. That is why the school voucher program in D.C. ,which was a big success and EVERYONE who lived there wanted it ,was canceled. Oh thats right, Obama sends his kids to a private school!!!!

Wow lets blame Obama for everything that goes wrong in your life.If you cant’t afford to send your children to private school then send them to public school after all you pay taxes right!Lets not blame the President because you can’t afford to live beyond your means.Stop complaining. And if you don’t like the fact that an Educated Black Man is in charge of the country,Then YOU are free to LEAVE!!!!!

it is kind of rediculous that people pay property tax which 50 percent goes to board of ed and when they pay tuition it is not even tax deductible as a expense that they are saving the gov money by educating their own children. Most people that send to private schools get very little in return as bussing is only a few hundred dollars and maybe textbooks 142 dollars
