Chaveirim Receives Over 650 Calls During Storm

chaveirim at work in the snow“We’re on our way back from the hospital-my wife just had a baby, and we’re stuck with a flat on the 195”. “Hi, our home is about 45 degrees-our power is out”. “We must get to the Chasunah in Bais Faiga”. “My car is stuck in a pile of snow”. Those are just some of the over 650 calls Chaveirim dispatchers handled with in just two days during the recent storm which paralyzed Lakewood. Aside from the dozens of stuck-in-snow and ice calls, Chaveirim responded to hundreds of irregular calls as well. From transporting expectant mothers to hospitals, to setting up generators for families without heat, to pulling ambulances out of the snow, Chaveirim was there. Chaveirim transported over 100 people to Weddings and Brissim during the storm.  “I’m extremely impressed with Chaveirim who are going above and beyond their call of duty to assist all who need assistance”, Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller told TLS during the storm. Chaveirim, an all-volunteer organization, responds to an average of 65 calls daily. To donate to the Chaveirim organization, click here.
