Lakewood Covered In Snow

6:43 p.m. Snow has stopped falling as of approximately 3:00 p.m. today. The Department of Public Works has been working around the clock to dig Lakewood out of the latest blizzard. Gov. Chris Christie is considering declaring a state of emergence to seek federal cleanup assistance for costs associated with the winter storm. TLS will continue to monitor the cleanup process and keep you updated.

7:02 p.m. All The Way Towing was called by Hatzolah when their Ambulance got stuck, but was cancelled on the way as they made their way out, and got the patient to the Hospital. Most areas in Lakewood got between one to two feet of snow.
7:17 p.m. Most County roads have been fully plowed. Some Lakewood roads still covered.
7:42 p.m.TLS just spoke with Committeeman R’ Meir Lichtenstien who worked tirelessly over Thursday and Friday together with the other Committee members to ensure a smooth cleanup. “Our efforts have definitely paid off” he said. “We can see a tremendous improvement from the last storm”. There are still some areas which are not done, but they are continuing to work on them. There have been 30 trucks on the roads since the beginning of the storm, including some with Supervisors.
8:04 p.m. Residents from several areas told TLS they have gotten 16-20 inches of snow.
9:29 p.m.A TLS reporter who has just returned from Monsey told us the Garden State Parkway is clear. (TLS-16)
9:39 p.m. Route 9 South (Lakewood bound) is moving slowly.
9:54 p.m. Parts of Route 9 are one-way traffic only and traffic is moving at a pace of 30-35 mph. The GSP is a preferred route at this time.
