Police Chief Rob Lawson: Snow Cleanup Went Well, More Co-operation From Residents Still Needed
(Video of last week’s video message from Chief Lawson, in extended article) In case you’re not tired of shoveling, or even if you are, get ready for another big one, as earlier reported on TLS. We spoke with Police Chief Rob Lawson moments ago about the recent storm and about the impending snowstorm which is set to hit Lakewood tomorrow evening. The storm is expected to last into late Wednesday, with accumulation of up to a foot of snow and according to some reports, up to 18 inches. “The preparation helped a lot” the Chief told TLS in regards to the latest cleanup operation. “The Public Works did a fantastic job” he said. The Chief attributed much of the success to the fact that residents were forewarned and assisted by moving their cars off the roads, in the most part. However, there are still many residents in the the 5th Street/Forest/ North Lake area and 9th/East End area who did not move their vehicles, which complicated the cleanup process, the Chief said.
Chief Lawson spent between 4-5 hours together with Chaveirim members on Motzei Shabbos, personally assisting residents with their vehicles. “Chaveirim worked like a well oiled machine!” Chief Lawson said of Chaveirim’s work during the storm aftermath. The Chief has met and continues to meet with Chaveirim and LCSW coordinators to ensure a continued co-operation and a most efficient cleanup process.

yea i called chaveirim this moring they were going non stop i was told by 11am they had about 30-40 calls
Glad to see our chief so involved in snow removal.
I don’t know if there is a more dedicated police chief in the entire state of NJ! He is there for EVERYONE at all times doing things way beyond his call of duty. May G-D bless you with many happy and healthy years and lots of blessing and happiness in your family.

How can the east 9th east end area get their cars out of the way???? Where should they put them? There are about 60 families on that block and many of them have 2 (or even more) cars.some of the drivways can only fit 1 car! The only way to do the job properly on that block is for the plow truck to be there and first do the middle then the neighbors will all help and move the cars and then after doing one side evryone will move over to the other side but ther must be a plow truck on the block at the time because there is not enough room on one side for all the cars.
I hope someone from the township is reading this and then you guys help us out.
thanx for the job done this past motzaei shabbos but you have to understand there is no way to have all the cars out of the way before the storm hits especially mudweek when everyone is home
the difference between last storm’s cleanup and this storm’s was like night and day. Whatever public works is doing, keep it up!! This was the fastest cleanup ever.
re: wondering. Whispering pines has the worst parking situation I know of in town.. They all made a joint effort and before shabbos parked only on ONE side of the street. This allowed the plows to plow a wider swath. maybe you can do that as well- get together with all you choshuva neighbors

In my 20 + years in Lakewood, the clean up from this weekend’s storm was the best ever!!! Keep up the good work Public Works.
In the past, even main streets like Forest and Clifton had humps of snow between the lanes. Yesterday was clear from side to side down to the pavement. Even the pickup from Cheder went much smoother than usual due to clear streets.

To the person who parked on the street in front of my house after zman hadlaka on Friday, when all the residents of Forest park had cleared the street for the plows, I will try to be mochel you.
where there’s a will, there’s a way! Most of us got the cars out of the way!
before the last snow ended last Shabbos, the plows started cleaning the streets between County-Line & 14 st and did a much better job than the last big snow,
But Sunday County-Line was cleaned again putting bid piles of snow into the ends of each street, making a dangerous situation for all drivers turning into County-Line or 14 st, many cars got stuck on this pile or drove thru it into traffic !
each intersection required another cleaning after the main street was redone, they never were re-done.

Since I was willing to post the last time that it snowed that Ashley Ave. by Martin Luther King was a mess, I would like to thank the township for making sure that by this past storm we were all cleared up. Saturday Night at 8:00 P.M., 2 trucks came by and cleaned up the entire street. We had all made sure that no one had parked on the street and they cleaned up the area from curb to curb. Thanks for the attention.

Alot of people dont have internet thus not having access to the scoop, it would be a good idea if there was a sign put up in yeshiva or/and an add on 107.9 to tell people not to park on the streets
