Bachur With Ohio License Issued Summons For No License

lpd_pulling_over“License and Registration please” was what a Bachur was asked for at approximately 1:15 a.m. early this morning, after being pulled over for failing to use his Blinkers. The Bachur, from Ohio gave the officer his Provisional Drivers License and registration papers. The Officer came back to his vehicle and issued the driver two Summonses. One for failing to use his Blinkers and the second Summons for driving without a License. When asked why he was given the Unlicensed Driver Summons, the Officer replied that his License was not recognized. A friend was called to pick up the vehicle.

  1. The cops are angry about something here now.
I think it is time to fire half of them, that will keep the good ones in shape & hire a few traffic cops where they are really needed only it will be a lot cheaper & send a message.
    Now go fight the unions.

  2. According to NJ law, one must refrain from driving with a provisional license between the hours of 12:01AM – 5AM. It is the responsibility of the driver to know the laws of any state they may be driving in. (Unless they are 21 years of age or older or have a legal document stating they are allowed to drive at these times for work &/or religious purposes.)

Also, not all states recognize an out of state “Provisional” license any different from an out of state Permit.

  3. Seems like so many people have problems in Lakewood with their driving. So we bash the police department and cry about the taxes. yet when we need something ” special ” done we run to them and don’t mind the expense. So just because drivers who violate State Laws get tickets we think we can blur the facts by blogging about false things and stir the pot. I applaud the Lakewood police for protecting us all in all aspects of police work. I also thank the scoop for reporting on these things, but people need to face the facts not the hype.

  4. I got pulled over last night at 11:30 pm cuz I went thru a red light and the officer gave me warning and no tickets the lkwd pd are the best

  5. A Lakewood P.D. pulled me over for driving 45 mph in a 25 mph street not too long ago .The officer was courteous, reminded me that there were many pedestrians in the area and no sidewalks. the officer issued me a summons for a view obstruction instead of the speeding, which would have required me t go to court, pay a hefty fine and take 3 points. I deserved a speeding ticket, but the view obstruction cost me $48. I was very thankful to the officer who drove the point home that we need to be safer drivers. Now there is a fair and just officer.

  6. Unfortuneotly many people in this down have no respect for authority and think they could get away with everything either because they know someone who could take care of it for them or they talk to our askonim this frustrates the police officers because all they are trying to do is. There job if we would try to be a little more corteous and respectful towards them maybe things would be different let’s try it

  7. The other day i pulled to my corner slowed down by the stop sign looked both ways and got a ticket for failing to come to a complete stop. I pull out the same way every day. It was a legal ticket but i sure hate the guy for giving it to me. I used to like the LPD now i hate them . If i would see an officer needing help for anything in the past i would do anything to help them . Not now.

  8. The cops are currently on a ticket blitz. Maybe our police chief just doesn’t know about it. In the last few days people are being ticketed left and right just ask anyone.

  9. I live in Passaic and had the same shtick for my out of state license. I fought it in court and won. Just a pain in the neck to take the time to go to court. It seems the law is you are supposed to change to an NJ license if you are here for more than a few months, this is their way of forcing your hand. You can’t show up in court and claim, ‘I have an Ohio license if the law says you must get an NJ.’ The judge would lilely hit you up for a worse fine for not transferring your license. But if you have a new NJ license and can prove you had an Ohio at the time, they should let it go….

  10. I just would like to let the lpd know that 99% of this town loves you guys, and know that you guys(lpd) do a great job.

  12. My friend got pulled over in Howell when he had a NY Permit & one of the tickets he got was for ” Driving without a License ” . Because NJ does not recognize NY Permit , so they look at it as if you were driving without a license. I’m sure that’s the case over here . So to all you bloggers : please stop posting stupid comments .

  13. i remember when nj started with the provitional licence it was just a peice of paper and made alot of trouble for us out of state where all had no idea what this smooshed up receipt from the dmv was so im not suprised the cop did not take it

  14. I drive way above the posted speed, I don’t always stop at stop signs, I often talk on my cel phone while driving, its about time the LPD noticed. And now that I see that I won’t get away with it I have slowed down, and bought a Bluetooth ear piece. I am not a bad person I just needed a smack in the face.
Thank you LPD, now my kids, my family, and friends will all be safer.
