PHOTOS of Tuesday evening’s M.O.C.I.B (Monmouth Ocean County Intelligence Bureau) Valor Awards Ceremony in Spring Lake, where the Lakewood Police Officers involved in the September shootout, were presented with an Award. The Officers awarded were: (Wounded in Combat) Patolman Jonathan Wilson, Lieutenant Gregory Meyer, Seargeant Louis Sasso and Patrolman Leonard Nieves Sr. The other Officers involved in the shootout, who evacuated the wounded under extreme hostile conditions were, Sergeant Glenn Clayton, Sergeant William Rodriguez, Patrolman Leonard Nieves Jr, Patrolman Jason Diffoot, Patrolman Erik Menck, Patrolman Robert Lopez, Patrolman Leroy Marshall and Patrolman Robert Desimone.

where is lenny nieves sr he was also injured in shooting ???
Thankfully all officers are alive and (I presume) well. I would like to thank officer Nieves Sr. for all the good he does for this town, above and beyond what is required by a cop. You are a true public servant.
Yeah but to bad the township committee wants to illimanate Police Jobs
I would rank officer butterworth and nieves sr 1a and 1b as the best lpd officers our community has

Imagine this…4 cops shot and the rest were at great risk for death. it wasn’t so lone ago, that deputy chief had to shoot a civilian. Or does everyone forget the crazy guy running around forest avenue with a knife. And know the township committee wants to cut five jobs. If you ask me we need five more officers. These brave men and women go above and beyond.
These guys are the best, I can’t believe the township wants to even think about laying off police officers. There aren’t enough officers to begin with, much less lay some off. Township comittee needs to look in the mirror before going after the jobs that are needed in this town…..
Thank you LPD we all realize that being a cop in Lakewood has become a very strenuous and dangerous job.
And to all the bloggers, this article should not serve as a forum to debate whether we can or can’t afford job cuts.
