Jun 02 2010 8:45 am

nj natural gasA New Jersey utility says it has submitted filings with state regulators to reduce natural gas rates by 2.1 percent. New Jersey Natural Gas said Tuesday that the reduction is a result of its cost control measures and purchasing strategies coupled with lower natural gas costs. The company said a typical customer should see a savings of about $2.89 a month. The proposed change would be effective Oct. 1. It is in addition to $110 million in reductions through customer refunds and bill credits since October 2009. New Jersey Natural Gas serves nearly half a million customers in New Jersey. AP
