UPDATED: Power Outage Affecting Between 500-2,000 Homes In Lakewood

outage lakewood_wm4:40 p.m. A large power outage is affecting many homes in the 14th Street area, an area residents tells TLS. Many homes in Laurelwood, Hope Chapel, Fernwood and other areas were affected. Several Traffic lights are out as well. Update 4:44 p.m. We are getting reports of other areas affected too. Update 4:54 p.m. Walmart in Howell has lost power as well.
Update 5:20 p.m. Between 500-2,000 homes in Lakewood are without power, and between 2,000-5,000 homes are without power in Ocean County, as per JCPL.
Update 5:30 p.m. A resident affected tells TLS that an automated system at JCP&L is reporting that power may be restored by 6:30 p.m.
9:37 p.m. Some parts of 14th Street area have their power restored.
10:35 p.m. Under 500 homes remain without power, as per JCP&L.

  1. Maybe we can have Herschel check out why in 2010 if it is a hot day JCPL cannot handle the load!! This is only the very beggining of the summer season…

  2. The current committe had to preserve electricity for lighting the blueclaws stadium. So they did a 6 hour cut to the rest of lakewood

  3. No 21 – Nice try Blueclaws are powered from Swarthmore Ave and 14 Street (95%of the homes ) are powered from Jackson Township
