Man And Woman Arrested At Flea Market For Selling Counterfeit Goods

Sep 07 2010 9:36 am

arrested lgA man and woman selling counterfeit goods at the flea market in Lakewood have been arrested, Detective Lieutenant William Addison of the Lakeood Police tells TLS. The pair were selling  the counterfeit goods at a stand, when they were approached by Lakewood’s undercovered Street Crimes Units - who were at the market attempting to recover the stolen strollers and bikes.

The units – posed as shoppers - purchased some of the counterfeit merchandise from the pair and then verified that the items were indeed counterfeit.

The pair, with three previous arrests for counterfeit on their record, were arrested on the spot, and their truck with merchandise were confiscated, Addison says.

They are being held in Ocean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

sounds like this has nothing to do with the strollers, and they were caught selling knockoff handbags/watches etc? I did not know lakewood enforces that with such rigor.

remember it says counterfeit, not stolen, if you bought a rolex for $20, you should not have assumed you got the real deal!

Wow knock offs at the flea market who would have thought. how could a buyer be so stupid? If the price is a lot lower than the store it is fake. Also is it really illegal to sell knock offs there is a store called (moderated). That is all they sell.

The illegality of “knock off”s are copyright infingements. It’s legal to sell a watch that looks just like a Roledex but illegal to call it a Roledex.

I got my watch at Walmart for $7. I know its not a Seiko, but it tells the time, so who cares.

Knock off merchandise is a real big problem in more than one way, money from the sale of these illegal copies often goes to the hands of some shady characters and is used to support other illegal activities. it defrauds the rightful companies of legitimate products of income .
Anyone caught selling this stuf should be fined heavy

To #5..Nothing about the above sentence even makes any sense. Do me a favor and check your comment before posting. K?..k..Thanks.
A ‘roladex’ is a rotating file that goes on your desk. A ‘Rolex’ is an expensive watch. But thanks for making me laugh today..I needed it.
