LCSW Reaching Out To Residents For Assistance

lcsw car logo tlsWith the recent significant increase in crime in Lakewood over the past couple of months – and the decrease in police resources – LCSW is asking for residents to assist with patrolling. If you or someone you know are available to offer a couple of hours a week or month to help patrol, please call: 908-596-0529 or email [email protected].

Another way to assist, is by calling LCSW and/or police should you witness any suspicious activity.

The number to the LPD is 732-363-0200.

The number to LCSW is 732-367 1212.

  1. This “program” has the word “LAKEWOOD” in it.

So that must mean the township is allowing this, insuring it, and has these volunteers “on the books” like volunteer fire dept’s right???
The chief of police is allowing unarmed, untrained civilians to drive around all hours of the night looking for criminals, correct? Is that what im understanding chief? that your encouraging these folks?

  2. To #1
So anything that has the word lakewood in it like yeshiva ktana of lakewood or any store that has the word lakewood in it has to be approved the the
    police dept?

  3. what if these people get hurt who will pay for the injurys or maybe even worse, i can’t believe that the township will allow this, this is such a dumb idea.

  4. The concept of LCSW was and IS that members should drive around and TAKE NOTICE of suspicous events or characters…..In the event that they see something out of the ordinary they are to CALL POLICE immediately. In fact the chief does not even officially allow them to exit their vehicles generally. Only on rare occassions has an LCSW member actually assisted (literally) an officer….and when that occured it was by request of the LPD. In fact I only know of one such incident.

Now where does “Mr. Conservative”(who always comes up with brilliant comments) read in this article that these members are “on the books and insured”??? Please enlighten me so I can sleep better tonight.

  5. Mr. Conservative: I don’t believe you’re the real Mr. Conservative. It’s not his style. Your comment is just plain ignorant. The Township has nothing to do with the LCSW. Since when is the word “Lakewood” a trademark? You make a lot of assumptions, and you know what they say about assumptions….

#3. The Township doesn’t “Allow” anything. It’s part of what we call “Freedom of Association” it’s one of the Rights expressed in the U.S. Constitution. Google it, learn it, love it.

  6. Do you ever leave your house? Do you drive a car? why would you get hurt by patrolling anymore then by being out on the street on any day?! What if you got hurt walking down the street, who would pay for those injuries? Are you really that dumb?

  7. #9, yes i do drive and leave my house, what if i slipped on the ice or fell because there was a pothole then it would be either the person or the township that would have to pay, what i’m saying is what if the partol person were to get shot or stabbed then what, would this person be able to call the police for help or anyone . that’s all i’m saying and if you think this is good idea then i guess it is

  8. Actually I didnt even begin to understand what your saying, going on patrol is no different then driving to the grocery. What would you do if you got shot or stabbed while walking down the street? Do the same while your on patrol. Every town has neighborhood watch groups, it makes the town safer.

  9. to numbers 11 and 10 your both right i can understand that your both concerned town folk who wants the best for the for lakewood. and i can see the why you both want the people to be safe so to number 10 understand that number 11 has a good point .

  10. to number 12 thank you very and to number11 good luck in this venture and i hope that this watch group do have success in watching this great town of ours

  11. You might still think it’s a dumb idea, but from your comment wondering how the the Township would “allow” it shows that you DON’T know what “Freedom of Association” means. The Township doesn’t have the authority to allow, or not allow, the LCSW.

  12. Mr. Conservatve If I want to get into my car and drive around town at anytime of the day or night It is my RIGHT! I know the dangers of doing this and accept them! Would you feel better if it was called “Howell community watch” ?
