Askonim On Japan Video: Japan Song Not Endorsed By Rabbonim

japan vidIn response to the recently released Japan Video, Askonim involved with the case have released the following statement, submitted to TLS. —Dear Friends, Although “The Japan Song” is a professional, emotional and moving video, and it has the strength to awaken and be me’oirer people, we should make sure that the hisorerus goes in the right direction.

The Orach Chaim Rescue Fund, regulated by esteemed Rabanim, continue to be the ONLY dedicated team who are reliably generating funds from the public community for the Pidyon Shevuyim of the detained bochurim, and all monies contributed are transferred directly to pay the expenses for the case.

Contributions can be given via their telephone hotline number 718-534-0030 or their dedicated website www.japanpidyon.org.

We have now been able to reach Rabbi Yakov Dov Bleich & Reb Meilech Bindinger, who add their names to this request.

Many thanks.

  1. Is the song not endorsed by Rabbonim or the japan song fund? From this letter it seems that they’re indifferent to the song as long as the monies go to the proper fund.

  2. To Moshe:
The Torah says, “Btzedek Tishpot Amisecha,” which means that you should judge your friend favorably (Dan lekaf zchus) so long as they are considered your brother (a practicing Jew). So unless you have indesputable proof that they are guilty, you have to believe they are not guilty. I hope this answers your question.

P.S. This is even without the overwhelming evidence that these boys are not guilty.

  3. The askanim involved in the case are killing themselves for the boys. They have no night or day. When everyone is trying to get out of Japan since it is dangerous, they travel there to be present at Closing arguments of Yaakov Yosef. They are speaking with the lawyers, and anything and everything for the boys. The money that goes toward pidyon shevuyim comes from the Orach Chaim Rescue Fund account (japanpidyon.org) and is endorsed by many Rabanim. From this account the lawyers get paid. If you want to be mekayeim pidyon shevuyim, this is the way to do it.

  4. Since when does the right to raise money for any cause belong to one person or group?! The Mitzva of Pidyon Shivuyim is a Chiyuv for everyone. I have no reason to suspect anyone of making this production in an attempt to pocket money. R’ Shloime Daskal is a very fine person and an Ehrliche yid. I”m sure their intentions are to raise funds to help the boys that are in jail in Japan.

  5. Why is this different then the music tribute for Rebashkin?

BTW it was a well done video ( i would of left out the images of the Tsunami)

May Hashem free these boys soon

  6. While many in the orthodox community are aware of the situation with the boys in Japan, the world at large is not.

The point of the video is build awareness in the larger community and hopefully bring in some money to pay the lawyers from outside the community.

Reading between the lines it seems the askonim are saying “while we don’t endorse the video, we appreciate the efforts of the sponsors and participants in their efforts to help the boys”.

  7. I think something needs to b clarified here!! Is it the Video the problem or the fact that someone else is coming along to raise funds. Editor please clarify!!!!!!

  8. I think this video presentation is wonderfull, no question many hard tireless working hours was put in. Shloime Daskal great job!!!!!!!

  9. The movie could have hurt the boys.
There were originally images on their website that the Japanese gov’t does not allow publicized. Having those pictures in the public could have been VERY bad for the boys case and made it much worse and required lawyers to resign.

  10. To moshe you make my blood and everybody that reads your comment boil
How could you be so cruel and heartless after evidence from all sides are showing that their not guilty besides if you are a negative mind you don’t have to show it in public

  11. To MF:

The askonim did not mention your information in the post above and I assume if it was important to mention and they felt the same as you they would have.
