Though more than a month since the new traffic changes have taken affect in downtown, some motorists are still not following the signs. Multiple drivers – including a driver today – have been stopped while traveling in the wrong direction on First Street, nearly causing a head-on-collision.
As the signs clearly indicate, 1st Street between Clifton and Lexington Avenues, is a one-way street, East bound.
When turning out of the NPGS lot, you must make a right turn only.
Can someone explain why both First and Second Streets are one way – in the same direction? To go to the other way you’d have to go up to 88 or down three blocks to Third and come around.
Because people were complaining about the bus traffic but you still have the bus traffic but now they got out eastbound on first to lexington ave (which is a one way now from 1st St to Route 88 and then they turn onto 88 into the bulk of traffic..I agree that move was a stupid one..you have to go out of your way to get anyplace in this town anymore..
Whats done is done!! The title of this article should be “Drivers not paying attention drives wrong way on one way street” Get off the phone and drive!!
people are still making a illegal turn. onto lexington from rt 88.
I LIVE down Lexington. Today, when coming from Rt 88, EVEN I almost turned into Lexington.
It is sheer stupidity how they woke up one day and started switching around all the streets, it is an accident waiting to happen, and you will not be truly at fault. They MUST have BIG signs at every intersection they switched AND at the exit of the co-op, people are used to certain driving patterns and unless there is a notice when they are at the intersection they can forget!!
