Miracle On North Lake Drive As Large Tree Crushes Car Full Of Passengers

PHOTOS & VIDEO: A family is lucky to be alive this evening after the car they were driving in was struck by a falling tree. The family – with several young children in the vehicle – was driving on North Lake Drive when a large tree came crashing down on the car, crushing the windshield and roof and knocking out the back window.

Hatzolah was called but the family managed to climb out uninjured.

Chaveirim and LCSW were called to the scene by LPD to cut up and remove the tree which blocked the roadway.

  1. May be the large crowd of people should have stayed back instead of gathering around since other trees could have crashed down. It’s time for the community start using some common sence.

  2. Baruch Hashem that nobody was hurt, or worse, but this is the reason they had a STATE OF EMERGENCY…Only emergency vehicles were to be on the road. This has to end. A law is a law, Everyone should have to obey. The Person driving was in danger, but did it to themselves by not listening. But to put ALL THE POLICE, FIREMEN, OTHER PEOPLE TRYING TO HELP, let alone all the people watching is very sad. Gov. Christie said to stay indoors ALL DAY and to stay off the roads. Maybe they should have listened!!!!!!!

  3. 2. Does a State of Emergency declaration direct citizens to take any particular action?

    No. …

    3. Does a State of Emergency mean you aren’t allowed to go anywhere or do anything until it’s lifted?

A: The Governor’s declaration does not normally restrict citizen movements or activities. The State may limit access to affected areas due to concerns for public safety but will notify the public of these restrictions. If it is necessary to impose vehicular or personal movement restrictions, the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management will alert the public using all available means, including, but not limited to: the Emergency Alert System, urgent press releases, DOT highway signs, law enforcement teletypes, etc. Every effort will be made by NJOEM to facilitate safe passage for utility, health care and emergency services workers whose presence is necessary for public safety or in response to the Emergency

  4. what was so important that you just had to put you and your family in harms way? This is why it’s called state of emergency, thankfully it wasn’t serious. Nothing is worth getting hurt when you shouldn’t be on the road in the first place.
