  1. I live in Pine Acres between Pine St. and Chestnut. My neighborhood has septic systems. The helicopter was flying over my neighborhood around 7pm. Didn’t know what it was until I saw a News12 update on Facebook. Sometimes the cover is taken off to investigate an overflow and not replaced until the septic people come to drain it. My prayers go out to the family. Very sad.

  2. Young children explore places because of their constant curiosity. Maybe they found of a girl because of a foul smell that was detected. Depending on how long the body was there that is.
Or maybe they had police dogs who sniffed her out. Very sad story. My condolences to the family.

  3. A loss of life is a terribly tragic, especialy a 2 year old.
I hope there was no neglegence involved, of a contractor or a land lord.

  4. This is a horrible tragedy for the Lakewood community!!

Last summer my septic tank failed and we made the switch to sewer. The hole was left open for a long period of time mainly due to the lack of coordination between the inspection dpt and the plumber.

Now that I realize what could of happened…I really hope that the inspection dpt will revise their guidelines and give out together with the septic permit application – clear directives for coordinating the process with plumbers.

We should never hear of such tragedy again and May G-D bless her pure Soul and give strength to the family.

  5. Thank you LPD and Lakewood Chaveirim members who were @ the scene right away and had already set up a command center including it’s new tower 1 light tower and were about to send it’s members to search when the child was found sadly unalive, but chaveirim stayed and helped with it’s extensive knowledge and training in removing the thinks blocking rescue workers from getting into the septic tank, may all volunteers always be safe

  6. My deepest condolonces to the parents and familes of this little girl lost in this horrible tragedy. I hope people that post on this site remain humane and remember that there was life lost here and they are not a higher power to judge. RIP little angel.

  7. Yesterday was such a beautiful day. As I was playing with my two-year old grandson, I kept thinking how blessed I am to have him. To hear this news breaks my heart. I can’t imagane what this family has to go through now. I couldn’t agree with you more #31. The township needs to do more in their inspections. This shouldn’t have happened.
