BARUCH DAYAN HA’EMES: Ha’bachur Yosef Meir Berger Z’L

BARUCH DAYAN HA’EMES: [UPDATED] It is with much pain that we inform you of the Petirah of Ha’Bachor Yosef Meir Berger Z’L, who was Niftar this evening. Yosef Meir, 13, son of Reb Ezra, was critically injured Erev Taanis Esther when he was struck by a bat, just days after his Bar Mitzvah. He was in a Coma ever since.

During this tremendous Nisayon R’L, the parents and family have showed extraordinary Bitachon and Emunah and never questioned the Ribono Shel Olam.

The pure Neshama of Yosef Meir takes with it the thousands of Kapitlach Tehillim and the Zchus of Torah which were Davened and Learned on his behalf by thousands of Yidden across the globe.

The Levaya will be taking place at 11:30PM this evening, at the 7th Street Chapel.

Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.

  1. Baruch Dayan HaEmes What a tragedy we caused cause we cant get our act together & do teshuva
WHAT ARE WE ALL WAITING FOR? has klal yisroel gotten the message from Hashem-waiting for us to start doing teshuva-have YOU done anything yet? how many more tragedies & Tzaddikim will it take C”V before we wake up & start doing teshuva? OVER 85 GEDOLEI HADOR have passed away within the past year R”L. HOW MANY MORE DO WE NEED TO LOSE C”V to let hashem know that we get the message for klal yisroel to start doing teshuva ASAP?

note:lots of the gedolim this past year were niftar R”L in the 70’s or 80’s this was not enough to wake us up to teshuva

BOTTOM LINE:people are starting to die younger & younger cause 79 (Rebetzin kanievsky, Rabbi Tendler Zt”l & the spinka rebbe of yerushalyim ZT”L)
was not young enough to wake us up to start doing teshuva.
HOW YOUNG will it take for us to get the message from Hashem for everyone-myself included-to start doing teshuva & return to Hashem? Klal Yisroel already lost a big tzaddik LAST WEEK at the young age of 37 while he was learning over a sefer Rabbi akiva ehrenfeld ZT”L & son of mattesdorfer rav.

  2. Why does this hurt so bad? Why is this causing me rivers of tears? My heart breaks for parents to lose a child… It’s clear as a community we need to find the source of our collective failings b’ruchnius and do teshuva. I’m sure I will be among many who will wait to hear the words of our gedolim.

  3. Oish. Hashem Yenachem Oisunu. We all Davened. We all did our best. This is a personal tragedy that strikes at us collectivly.

  4. Hamokom yenachem eschem

Its so hard to write these words. I dont know how i am going to be able to say these words when i iyh i make the shiva call.

I can recall when you called me asking if i was coming to the Bar Mitzvah. But now i must go to the Levya.

How does one or can properly menachem avel a friend for such a tragic loss.

Please R”BSO Please Help the parents, sibilings, bubbies, zeddas , enitre mishpacha and all of klal yisroel during this time of tzar. Please Have ruchmanis and bring the geula. We need you now more than ever.

  5. As we morn the loss of this special young neshomo we should recognize how precious each neshomo is and treat eachother and all children with great value, love and respect

  6. Baruch Dayan Haemes.I said tehilim for him everyday.May Hashem help the entire mishpacha during this time of tzar. May Mashiach come quickly.

  7. @ #4

    Speak for yourself.
You say “What a tragedy we caused cause we cant get our act together & do teshuva”
    I know I didn’t cause anything.
Who do you think you are? – A modern day armchair navi who knows Hashem’s cheshbonos as to why people die at any given age?!??
Gedolim have been dying for thousands of years, and future gedolim are born everyday.
What do you know about “Teshuvah”? Oorah, Aish Hatorah, Jep, NCSY, Gateways etc. didn’t exist until nowadays. We have more Teshuvah movements then ever before – whether it be for the unaffiliated or the very frum.
If you want to take a message from a tragedy to better yourself then good for you. But don’t start preaching to the world that “we” somehow “caused” this tragedy.

  8. bde may the family see only simchas in their lives and know that there is a very special neshama watching over them from shamayim.

  9. The sinas Chinam of todays Generation is worse then the generation of when the 2nd bais Hamikdosh was destroyed because of it.

Thus mashiach can;t come until the love returns to klal yisroel & we start caring for each other & NOT ONLY AFTER ITS TOO LATE & TRAGEDY HAS STRUCK ALREADY C”V

  10. We kept the tehillim going through 53 cycles and were in the middle of the 54th. The last chapter I assigned was chapter 24.

The introduction to this chapter in the ArtScroll edition says: Dovid composed this psalm on the day he purchased the land of the eventual Temple site. Land, brick and stone were not enough to build a Jewish Temple. Man himself must be worthy of ascending the mountain where
G-d’s presence rests. This psalm describes the personal qualities that qualify a Jew for such a lofty aspiration.”

May each of us find within ourselves the desire and strength to do whatever we can and should do to help bring about the buildiing of the third and final Bais Hamikdash.

  11. @ #24

“The sinas Chinam of todays Generation is worse then the generation of when the 2nd bais Hamikdosh was destroyed because of it.”

And how did you come to this conclusion?????

I think that this Sunday you should stand outside Citifield, and as people arrive to the asifa, announce all your brilliant nevuah on megaphone.

  12. Hamokom Yenachem Eschem Bsoch Shaar Aveiley Tzion Yerushaliyim
May the family know of no more tzoros and Hashem should give them nechomo. We can all take a lesson of bitochon and emunah from this pure neshomo’s own parents. This is a personal tragedy felt by EVERYONE that lives in Lakewood and beyond.Let us continue our tefillos l’iloi nishmas Yosef Meir ben Zev.Please Hashem let us be zoyche to see moshiach really really soon.

  13. WE NEED TO STOP SAYING- AND ACCEPTING- MORZI SHEM RA AND LASHON HARA. WE NEED TO START LOOKING FOR THE GOOD IN EVERYONE, AND HASHEM WILL HOPEFULLY SEEK THE GOOD IN US. OY. OY. OY.

  14. #24 Goldy gets it right every time, while everyone darshens on and on she davens and gets us all to daven too!
    She has it spot on:
“May each of us find within ourselves the desire and strength to do whatever we can and should do to help bring about the buildiing of the third and final Bais Hamikdash.”
    AMEN!

  15. @ #29

I’m crying as well, but what shaichos does the fact that לט means curse have with this incident? I fail to see any connection whatsoever. Please explain.

  16. Good for you Ann!! You must be a parent.

Yaakov needs to take a humble pill and climb down off the soap box

“Why do innocent children die?” is a question that has been asked by anguished parents of all religions since the dawn of time. No matter what reason we conjure up, for us mortals it is one of those unanswerable questions. Only God knows why and He will reveal the answer to the parents, and each of us,when we finally stand before Him. A wise man once stated “On Earth there are no answers and in Heaven there are no questions”.

My condolences to and prayers for his family.

  17. Bde. I am crying along with so many others right now. I davened for Yosef meir z’l 3 times a day and he was always in my thoughts. May hashem grant the family with the the strength they need. “Hamokom Yenachem Eschem B’Soch Shaar Aveilei Tzion V’Yerushalayim.”

  18. lets all try to do what we can to put an end to all the tzoros of klal yisrael each person knows what they need to improve and there is no need to tell others how what and where

  19. if a person wants something from Hashem-a child, livlihood or a shidduch etc…-he needs to do more then JUST daven for it, he needs to YEARN for it-SADLY-in todays generation (the generation of instant technology & gradification….) we are not YEARNING for the Bais Hamikdosh. why should we? we have everything-from planes to iphones & ipads etc…-when we all start to show Hashem that we YEARN for mashiach then Hashem will send mashiach.

All of us have heard, read & seen tons of true stories of people who had their first child at 42 or had a sick child in critical condition, & then the doctor says i’m very sorry but your daughter has only 3 hours to live & then he comes back 2 hours later & says its really a miracle but your child is beginning to recover etc…. Why is it that they finally had a child & the child recovered? There could be tons of answers, but the most common answer Is a Pasuk we say 3 times a day in Davening. Hashem is close to all who call to him, to all who call out truthfully. (Tehillim 145)Because they cried out from their heart, they really meant what they were saying when they davened to H-shem to have a baby or for his daughter to recover etc…. theres a reason we call Hashem, Avinu She’bashamayim (our father in heaven) Hashem loves us from a father to a son. If we really cried out for the Bais Hamikdosh from our heart with truth & show that we are missing it, then we wouldn’t still be in Golus today.

  20. BDE. May we Klal Yisroel know of no more tzar.. and may Mashiach come speedily in our days without any more PANGS!… please Hashem.. we are so hurt…. we are in such pain…. please bring the Geulah!!

  21. @ #41
How is it a stirah to have a plane (?), an iphone, and an ipad while at the same time be yearning for the bais hamikdash? (Incidentally I own none of those 3 items)

    You say
“SADLY-in todays generation (the generation of instant technology & gradification….) we are not YEARNING for the Bais Hamikdosh.”

Are you implying that back in earlier generations they were yearning for the Bais Hamikdosh?
I’m curious – according to you, earlier generations had no sinas chinam, everyone yearned for the Bais Hamikdosh, everyone had “love” (your words), there were no planes, iphones, or ipads, everryone always did teshuva…So you Mr. Yaakov who knows all the hidden ways of Hashem, why wasn’t the Bais Hamikdosh built for the “earlier generations”.
Now that you finished judging modern day Klal Yisroel, lets see what kind of judgment you can pass on earlier generations of Klal Yisroel.
And while you’re at it why did the Holocaust happen?

  22. It’s helpful that we have a prescribed “formula” to say upon hearing of a petirah, as I don’t know that I could conjure up words on my own to respond to such sad news. Baruch Dayan HaEmet. When I heard from “Goldy” that there was an urgent need for a surge in tefillot earlier today, I stopped and said tehillim with my children. I hope every last prayer on Yosef Meir a”h’s behalf serves as a zechut for his neshama. May HaShem grant the Bergers (as well as the family of the other child and all of Klal Yisrael) the strength, comfort, and support that they need, at the right time, and spare them any further sorrow. Here’s to seeing an upcoming headline announcing bi’at ge’ulah sheleimah, bim’heirah b’yameinu.

  23. So sorry for the families loss. I did not know them, but as a parent my heart breaks and aches for them. You are all i my thoughts and prayers tonight.

  24. People around lkwd are dropping like flies r”l!!

    Does this warrant an asifa??!!
( or we only concerned about every other communnity and not take the hints from hakadosh baruch hu about our own lakewoood.)

  25. Let’s stop speculating for 2 minutes and feel the tzar of the family, this isnt the time or place to be having these discussions.

The name ‘Chaim’ is no longer used and the father does not have a second name. The name is Yosef Meir Ben Ezra.
