VIDEO SURVEILLANCE: Lakewood Police this afternoon released video of the suspect vehicle involved in Sunday’s hit and run which left a girl in critical condition.
The video, obtained by the Department Of Transportation, shows the vehicle one block away from where the accident occurred. The video surveillance was captured at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard, and the accident occurred at Kennedy Boulevard and Clifton Avenue.
Traffic and Safety Officer David Silberstien tells TLS the video is being enhanced by the Ocean County Prosecutors office in order to obtain the plate number from the vehicle.
The vehicle is a light colored 2006-2007 Jeep Liberty, as earlier determined by Silberstien based on evidence from the scene. The vehicle, which has a tire on the back, could be seen entering the bottom left of the video screen at the 7 second mark.
The 17 year old girl remains in critical but stable condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Silberstien says.
Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Silberstien at 732-363-0200, extension 5387. TLS.
Is this a joke? Quality is horrible. Not even sure what to look for in the video
I can see the jeep, but doubt they can enhance the video enough to read the plate. I hope they catch this person!!!! Fast. !!
The report tells you to look at the bottom left corner at the 7 second mark of the video.
There was a report in today’s APP that reported that Evesham, NJ police located a vehicle with damage consistent with a pedestrian impact. The elderly motorist reported that he hit something, but does not know where or when.

NJ police can’t find hit-and-run victim – 6:49 AM, Oct 12, 2012 |
EVESHAM — Bloodhounds, helicopters and all-terrain vehicles have failed to find a pedestrian that police in New Jersey believe was struck by an elderly driver.
An Evesham police officer stopped the 81-year-old motorist on Tuesday night and noticed damage to the passenger side of the vehicle that was consistent with striking a person.
Police say the driver recalled striking something, but he was unsure what it was or where it happened.
Tests showed hairs on the vehicle were consistent with coming from a human.
Sgt. Joseph Friel tells The Burlington County Times it’s “such a needle in the haystack.” Investigators believe the accident could have happened within an hour’s drive of the Cherry Hill Mall.
Friel hopes someone comes forward with information about a missing person.
Good catch, Bill. The Evesham vehicle is a 97 silver Taurus but seems consistent with the circumstances. Prayers to the girl and loved ones.
Her name is Jenniffer Gavilanez, she is my cousin. She is like a sister to me. Please pray for her. She’s not doing good and its been a week since the accident, WE NEED TO FIND THIS PERSON RESPONISBLE, NOW.
