PHOTO: A letter circulating and hanging yesterday in Williamsburg called for its residents to ban tonight’s live RCCS auction. The letter, which was not signed by any Rabbonim, asked Williamsburg residents to call the organization and demand answers as to why they are providing ‘entertainment’ and ‘singers’ – causing people to watch the live stream on the ‘dirty Internet’.
“On one hand you are trying to make people healthy and with the other hand you are making people sick”, the letter in Yiddish read.
The non-profit organization since 1997, has been providing an array of services for cancer-stricken patients in need, primarily by subsidizing health insurance premiums. TLS-NB.

what do ya mean “what’s with williamsburg?” can you even keep count of how many things have been unofficially banned right here in Lakewood over the years that were more kosher than this? do you remember what happened a few years back with the (moderated) for women?everyone here was banning it left and right and it had nothing to do with internet. some people just like to feel frummer than everyone else and don’t even bother to ask daas torah first. and anyway if they have a problem with them streaming over the internet with entertainment then why not ban all the other organizations that do the same thing. oorah’s been doing it for years and no one’s said a thing.

a) they are right but they can listen on the telephone call in line they dont need to watch the internet
b)the organization does tremendous work for jews in every community including williamsburg, to come out and assur the whole evening w/o any signatures is puzzling will they assur as well to take money or benefits from rccs as well?

I don’t think anyone signed up today for internet service in order to watch the auction. We live in a world today where internet is part of our lives and although I do agree that we all need filters, it is impossible to say don’t use it. Rather teach the young generations about filters than telling them no. It won’t work anyway.
