PHOTO: While driving in Lakewood this morning, a reader spotted a heart-warming scene, which he captured on camera to share with TLS. It was a simple – yet beautiful gesture of a Yeshiva student bringing a hot cup of coffee to a crossing guard working in the frigid weather.
An example of a small gesture, making a large impact.
Kol HaKovod!
True chessed! Small people do big things and big people do little things!!
wow
Small people??
Nice young man.
wat chesed i c wat lakewood is all aout such nachas!!!
he will get so much scar for that
That’s what we are all about! Keep it up
To first things first who requires explanation:
Small ‘minded’ people focus only on the BIG things; Big ‘minded’ people take even the SMALL deeds into consideration…
Mussar Haskel my friends: All it takes is one small deed to make a world of a difference: be it good, be it bad…
Consider that when you pay the cashier or the gas attendant or the garbageman or the post-man etc. Or- your neighbor, spouse, chavrusa… One good deed, one kind word, makes a world of a difference…
Excellent. My 8 year old cant sleep at night because he can’t handle the trouble the other kids make on the bus – it gets the bus driver angry, the bus driver has to yell at them and my son freaks out. This will definately calm his nerves.
proud to live in Lakewood!!
Beautiful! Mi Keamcha Yisroel!
He works so hard in the cold he’s one of the best crossing gourds
Not sure if this story should make me sad or happy.
On the one hand, I am happy to see such a sweet gesture.
On the other hand, I am sad that people are literally foaming at the mouth about what an incredible heroic act they just witnessed. Giving someone a hot drink on a cold day is common, human, decency. Have we all become such terrible people that when we see someone hold the door for someone, or hand them a drink we literally drool with excitement?
Salute me
I live in Lakewood
This is like the first time I’m even half proud to live in Lakewood. For some reason we don’t hear such stories to often… חבל
An act of kindness is from the heart. It also is food for the soul. Acts of kindness are catching, as they often inspires other similar acts of kindness.
Other simple acts of kindness have been observed.
It is reported that children in a private school were observing public school students that were trying out for sports, where a predetermined distance needed to be run by the students. The private school students were cheering the public school students on, and offering kind words of encouragement to all.
The children are angels for good.
@ FIRST FOR EVERYTHING- חבל that YOU live in lakewood!! You are soooo negative! You must be a reall bitter person 🙁
Mi keamcha Yisroel. So very proud 🙂
Stop being proud; now go out and do the same!
On hot days I offer the Crossing Guards, Mail carrier, Sanitation workers, bus drivers etc. drinks of water/ powerade…. and on cold days I offer them hot drinks.
#14, if you’re ashamed to live here you’re welcome to show yourself out. don’t let the door hit you on the way out please.
Funny how it says, while driving. So the person that took the picture is on the cell phone while driving. That’s illegal
How about handing out hot drinks to the poor souls living in the woods? The would definitely appreciate it; its so cold out!
What about going to tent city and giving out hot drinks, they’re cold 24/7!! NO??
