  1. There is nothing to say. It’s all been said already. Nothing will ever be done about Tent City until a real tragedy occurs.

It’s really not fair to the homeless to remove them; they are so poor and helpless. Therefore, we should just let them stay there and burn in fires.

    Real smart, right?

Forget it. Don’t even bother with the comments. The liberal judge is blocking Lakewood from doing anything, maybe when he sees a few charcoaled bodies in Tent City, his bleeding heart will change its illogical mind.

  2. There were times in New York City , when homeless people tried to sleep over the street gradings over subways to try and get some heat from under the ground. Mayor Lindsay, Mayor Koch, et al, years ago, issued the order that all of them be lifted up and brought to a shelter before they died in the freezing cold. Mayor Ackerman, step up to the plate.

  3. Tent city is a disaster waiting to happen. the loss of life would be terrible and at the end of the day the township will be sued. the township needs to be proactive and do everything in their disposal to have everyone removed.

  4. i feel most people didn’t see this article since there are newer news stories above it, otherwise we’d be at 87 postings by now…. WHAT IS WRONG With this town for allowing Tent city to continue??? Get them out of here, i hate having stinky dirty smoke in my home each night!!

  5. I love the part about “The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the fire.” Pray tell what exactly is he investigating…?
Is there something he needs help understanding..?
This happens once a week! You would think by now he knows the drill…

  6. To Let you all Know when Lakewood had a Motel on Rt 9 just South of Chestnut street that should of been offered to the Homless but once again Builders were able to get their hands on it

  7. Maybe by now they should think of moving the fire station on cedarbridge down a few hundred feet so they cld just roll out the hoses instead of wasting township gas driving down the block

  8. im not a lakewood resident but i feel for the people who do live near tent city. every time i go past i see more and more tents go up. it is sad for the residents who live near there. good luck to all the residents . to bad someone couldnt write the govenor about it and see what he could do. All those apt that are empty on mlk and lois la you would think may welfare could do something there. again good luck lakewood residents

  9. It might be a good idea to put a web cam around tent city so when the FD gets a call for smoke in the area they could just check the web cam instead of starting up a fire truck and wasting fuel driving down there for no reason.

  10. i think that its a shame that NJ can’t get these people a shelter to live in america wake up and for nj wake up this is going on all over the united states and why the government so for anyone to say get them out of there i understand that part but get them out with no where to go they will just set up in another place

  11. I am liking the idea of renovating one those abandon industries in the industrial park to make better living conditions for these people, and to offer many other services to get them hopefully back to work.
