Have a Surveillance Camera in the Vicinity of Somerset Avenue?; Reward to be Announced Friday

If you have a surveillance video camera mounted to your home in the vicinity of Somerset Avenue, your assistance could assist authorities in locating the hit and run driver which left a Chaveirim volunteer with serious injuries this past Motzei Shabbos.

Chaveirim tells TLS they are trying to assist in locating the suspect by gathering video surveillance in the roads leading to and from Somerset Avenue in hopes of possibly gathering license plate information for authorities.

The vehicle police are looking for, is a white or tan 1993 Chevy Astro.

“Homeowners or businesses in the area may not realize that their surveillance cameras may have captures images of the uncommon vehicle several blocks earlier, which may prove very valuable and helpful,” says a Chaveirim coordinator.

The Chaveirim member, Moshe Aron ben Miriam Zissel remains in much pain following the accident, and has already underwent surgery for some of the more serious injuries.

As earlier reported on our News Alerts, officials on Friday will be announcing a reward from Chaveirim for information leading to the apprehension of the suspect which injured one of their own. The reward could be upwards of $5,000 officials say.

Anyone with information is asked to please call 732-543-5856, or the Lakewood Police at 732-363-0200. TLS.

  1. why reward? Help out our fellow jew, better: Chaveirim memeber they help us when were in need (no reward – haSHEM REWARD) help them now when there in need ()

  2. Refuah Shleima to the injured Chaveirim member.
This comment is not necessarily for public posting, but I can’t stand when you post a badly written article with blatant grammar errors. For instance you use the word underwent above when it should be “undergone”. Grammar mistakes all over are bad enough, but if you are writing professionally and still make bad errors, it’s much worse, to say the least. And you do it often enough to make a very bad impression. It’s not enough to gather the news. You have to get good writers too.

fyi when you end a sentence with quotation marks, the period goes inside the quotation mark & not outside. (“undergone.”)

And no your comment is necessarily not appropriate for posting on this story.

  4. Thank you, Steve. I stand corrected. However from the double negative in your next sentence, I couldn’t tell if you were for against my post. In any case, I wrote the comment for the editors and not for public posting.
