UPDATED: Chaveirim Member Struck by Hit and Run Driver; In Stable Condition

UPDATED: [PHOTOS] A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a hit and run driver this evening, as reported on our News Alerts. The incident occurred about 10 PM on Somerset Avenue.

According to witnesses, the pedestrian, a Lakewood Chaveirim member and out of town Hatzolah member, was getting into his vehicle parked on the side of the road, when he was struck. Sources say he had just finished fixing a flat tire when the incident occurred.

Hatzolah and EMS responded to the scene and found the victim semi-conscious.

The vehicle which struck him, fled the scene.

Sergeant Frank Work of Lakewood’s Traffic and Safety division tells TLS they are looking for a white van with possible front end damage.

Hatzolah transported the victim to Jersey Shore Medical Center with several serious – but non life-threatening injuries.

Lakewood’s Traffic and Safety division and the Prosecutor’s Officer are investigating.

Somerset between County Line Road and East 7th is closed for the investigation.

Name for Tehillim, is Moshe Aron ben Miriam Zissel.
