The Township Committee will be proposing a law prohibiting the camping on public property without proper permits, TLS has learned. The new ordinance was proposed by the Mayor in hopes of enforcing the terms of the consent order in the Tent City litigation, which provides that the encampment may not continue growing.
With the new ordinance in place, officials hope to further stump the growth of the encampment – as adding more tents, or residents, would be in direct violation of yet another enacted law. It will also prevent such acts from taking place elsewhere.
The ban on open fires on public land, recently introduced by the Fire Commissioners, is also expected to be enforced by the township, the Mayor confirms.
The new camping ordinance is expected to be introduced during the next Township Committee meeting. TLS.
Did you mean STUNT growth? I have never heard of stumping growth.
What’s the point if they won’t inforce it?
They will inforce it, just not to tent city.
What took so long??
will the residents of tent city be grandfathered?
Enforce. E. N. F. O. R. C. E. Enforce.
I and my family take much offense to the huge cross that has been erected on the public road at Cedar Bridge road in front of tent city. Not only have they violated all of the county’s laws, but they also have turned this into a religious encampment.
Since when is a Township owned property public property
#7 the cross you are speaking of is not tat big and it marks the spot of a car accident were people died. It has nothing to do with tent city.
he’s not referring to that one. Go drive by and you’ll see it, it’s pretty clear.
