  1. #1, what is so hard to understand?
You should not purchase any chometz there until the Wed. after Lag B’omer, as it says b’feirush in the article.
It couldn’t be written any clearer…

  2. I called the OU yesterday and they told me it was fine because the chometz was sold. I called R’ Heinemann today and he told me the Star-K doesn’t hold of the mechira because that’s only for items they have before Pesach and Target can restock over Yom Tov.

  3. Lakewood shoprite is owned by Sakar family as well as many others in Ocean and Monmouth Counties. Check on line which ones-those are all good. Jackson Shoprite is a problem as it is owned by a Jew.

  4. The distributor for Target is C and S; according to the OU, their chametz is sold, based on R’ Moshe’s psak, through Rabbi Belsky. Enjoy your chametz.

  5. At the risk of sounding stupid, why is this only being posted three days after pesach when most people have already shopped and, baked for shabbos? My neighbors and i have a major problem now…..what do we do six and a half hours before shabbos???????

  6. Hey Londoner. Chill out.
The chometz issue is an old one.
Bp had this printed before pesach.
And besides how much of your Shabbos food is really Chometz from Target anyways.
well maybe flours the biggest issue

  7. #2, think again – It seems that #1 is actually refering to the other stores listed, as it says “However, purchasing Chometz items immediately after Pesach from the following National stores, is okay”. Try not to get too excited next time.

  8. It is nice to be מחמיר on the MINHAG to not buy חמץ that was sold over פסח.

But it is much more important to be מחמיר on the DE-ORAYSA of והחזקת בו וחי אחיך עמך and patronize אחיך בני ישראל.

  9. I hate buying groceries in Lakewood, a store didn’t let me check out because I didn’t give them my phone #….. I don’t need everyone knowing what I buy, where I buy, how often I buy.. “if a CUSTOMER doesn’t want to give their #, it’s they’re choice!!
What happened to privacy & customer service….

  10. I always wondered why my phone number was needed…i isnt like these stores ever give volume discounts. What is that information used for? Just curious.

  11. #16- you don’t know how to make up a number?
get real! the reason many stores ask for a phone number is to make sure a customer who may have an outstanding balance gets reminded to pay it. if s/he owes too much, the store may demand payment before selling them more merchandise.

  12. Regarding phone numbers: Mostly used to help customers locate items they left behind . Every day, a number of times, customers misplace or leave behind items. The telephone number assists in returning lost or missing products. Generally, the recipients are very grateful and appreciative. Also allows customers to call find out how much an item they purchased for a friend or neighbor cost and they have misplaced their receipt. Yes, it also helps for a unsigned WIC check. BTW, it would be helpful if customers checking out would not be on the phone, but focus on the transaction at that time.

  13. #19 – I said I don’t have an account in their store, they insisted I give them my number, I gave them my number & they wanted my name & address….. Before the name calling e sure of what you say, what goes around comes around MR. NAIVE!

  14. You have no idea about food distributors. C&S also distributes groceries to Stop & Shop, A&P, Pathmark and many other of the “safe” stores listed. True, Shop Rite is not supplied by C&S. But their warehouses supply all the stores, including Madison ave and Toms River/Jackson (same owner).

  15. Lets not start with the price on the shelf is marked at a certain price & when you check out, it scans at a higher amount…. And don’t blame that people moved the items on the shelf, the I matched up some barcodes & the prices were still wrong!!!!

  16. what happens many times is u give a check for more than the transaction but the cashier enters it as the amount of the transaction. If you give ur phone number they can contact you & tell you they owe you money. Many times the check is a 3rd party check so u can’t go by the name on the check.

  17. So you cashed a check without the phone number on the check? If you wrote the check for the incorrect amount, any cashier would question you. I have never been able to cash a check without the phone number on the check. They are asking for your phone number as a marketing data source.
