Earling Morning Fire Displaces 23; Several Hospitalized for Smoke Inhalation

PHOTOS & VIDEO [UPDATED] An early morning fire sent several people to the hospital and displaced over twenty people, sources tell TLS. Residents ofForest Avenue woke up shortly after 5 am to screaming and glass breaking and found flames shooting out of a neighboring apartment building at the corner of 4th Street and Forest Avenue, sources say.

The Fire Department sent out a General Alarm, prompting responses from all the Lakewood companies, as well as from Brick’s Fast Team.

Lakewood First Aid and EMS responded to the scene, and transported several residents to the hospital for smoke inhalation, an official says.

The rest of the building’s resident’s, about 20 people, were given temporary shelter at the Police Headquarters, officials say. Red Cross was called in to assist.
