Prisoner Recaptured After Escaping From LPD Vehicle During Transport

A female prisoner broke free from a Lakewood Police patrol car during a transport to Ocean County Jail, but was recaptured, Police confirm to TLS.

Police say the woman was skinny enough to slide one hand out of her handcuffs and then reached out of the window – which was open for air – and managed to open the door’s handle from outisde.

The woman ran about 50 feet on Route 166 in Toms River before the officer caught her and placed her under arrest again, police say.

The suspect, initially arrested on a warrant, will be facing additional charges for the esacpe, police say. [TLS-CCP]

  1. So, they needed air, so they opened HER window ? And, she slipped out of her handcuffs ? What, they didnt close it all the way ? Glad they caught her again. I’m sure they then Shut her window & Closed her cuffs all the way.
