At approximately 11a.m. today, a Department of Corrections inmate on a labor detail located a handgun off the side of State Highway 195 eastbound near milepost 25, Jackson Township, State Police say. Troopers responded and took possession of the gun.

There’s speculaion that the weopon retreived could be related to the Matlosz murder, or possibly to the more recent incident of a State Police-related shooting which ended with a police chase into Brick Township.

“The incident remains under investigation,” State Police say. TLS.
