VIDEO: Group in Lakewood’s Red Square Call for Support of Immigration Reform and Gun Control

VIDEO: A group of people – including William Field, a 30th District candidate, were in Lakewood’s Red Square Sunday afternoon calling for support of Immigration Reform and Gun Control in New Jersey.Field, a Howell resident who unsuccessfully ran for public office in Howell, says Immigration Reform is something he cares about, because there are millions of undocumented workers who have come to the U.S. and are contributing to the economy, and making much of the economy work.

Standing on Matlosz Way, Field noted that the fact that Matlosz was murdered by a random man carrying a gun, further indicates the need for tighter gun control in New Jersey. TLS.

  1. gun control yes, support for immigration a BIG FAT NO! If you come here illegally you should be shipped back to your native country and NOT get one red cent from us the taxpayers.

  2. Hey How about politicnas addressing the culture of violence in AMERICA FIRST??!!
    1- Violence in video games
    2- Violence on TV 24/7
    3- Violence in Movies
    4- Violence in the music – Rap/Hip hop…

Ever wonder why guns have existed since the creation of our country and all was fine but why over the past few years such violence have been perpetrated with guns? Could it be the culture we live in???

After all the above are addressed and some controls are put on them then I will be happy to discuss ADDITIONAL controls on guns. Guns have controls already, the above have NONE!

  3. Agreed. Officer Matloscz’s killer was a hardened criminal trying to avoid prison. That’s why we need to give the police the resources to crack down on crime.
Also agreed: criminals can get guns easily. That’s in part because it’s so easy for straw purchasers to get guns and distributed them on the street. A national law against straw purchasers would help combat this. Background checks would help combat this.

I’ll say this, though: Jahmell Crockam wasn’t born a criminal. He became one. We need to work on that part of the equation, too.

  4. For so many of us who grew up under the threat of Communism — air raid drills, air raid shelters etc. – it goes against the grain to see Lakewood’s town square — an early attempt to restore and renew the town — labeled Red Square. Ironic to see the term used on the day Margaret Thatcher — who helped bring down the Iron Curtain is being remembered.

  5. With all due respect Mr. Field, the fact that they are here illegally does not make it right that they help the economy. They do without a doubt, they also use the hospitals as a doctors office, take jobs that many Americans might need in this economy. Illegal still means illegal not undocumented, if I worked for cash or tried to hide my money by being paid in cash, they would look for answers, and money, and I’m an American citizen. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, I respectively disagree with you. The government wants to give the ILLEGALS cheaper college educations, how about doing the same for my kids since I don’t see any way I’m gonna be able to do it.

  6. How appropriate that these ultra-liberal comments were made in “Red Square”.

It is an insult to the memory of Chris Matlosz to trivialize his murder by calling his killer a random person.

  7. We already have gun control laws on the books that state crockham was not allowed to carry a gun. did it stop him from killing chris? nope. so tell me how MORE laws will?

Furthermore: we have laws stating murder is the worst crime imaginable. did it stop crockham from murdering chris? nope. so tell me how laws that carry less jail time will stop murder.

  8. This statemen on illegals is the most ridiculous thing i ever heard. misguided. they are contributing to the economy- yes- but they are already taking from the economy as well- healthcare, public education, need i say more?

  9. Can American citizens cross any other nation’s border illegally, obtain government health care, education and public assistance. Then rally in the streets to demand the right to vote? Why, don’t Americans need a passport just to cross over to the Canadian side of Niagra Falls, let alone the Rio Grande?
