  1. they shouldnt tell people not to have internet, this is the 21st century. they have to tell people how to live with it.
last year they just told people not to have it unless they need it for buisness and if they have it they have to have a filter.
you cant tell a regular (non buisness) person not to have internet these days, its like saying you cant have a cellphone.

  2. I promise you its important to discuss getting rid of it. The internet has ruined my life in many ways. If you want to hear personal details I will be more than happy to share if it will help you in any way. I am in the process of getting rid of it from my home. I recently took one big step towards removing it and will hopefully be free by months end. Me and my wife both agree that our marriage would be ten times better without the I.N. Yes, even if we have to shlep to Target to buy diapers like people have been doing for the last 30 years. Do you think the Internet allowed me more time for learning thanks to Amazon delivering all my orders next day. Cute Joke. That extra time was just spent browsing. As I was going to bed last night and preparing to go to sleep I glanced over at my wife with her lap-top on her lap and said “Wouldn’t it be nice if at a quiet time when the baby is finally asleep like now we could just talk. . .”

So Thanks a million to TAG and and all the others that have encouraged me and the rest of the community to finally take the bold steps to an internet free home. I will be forever indebted. Hopefully I will get my life back.

  3. By the way, It was not even an issue of dirty things as I have many filters but just the general idea’s and the tremendous waste of time that took over our lives very slowly yet surely.

  4. to #5 you went wrong somewhere along the lines “why in the world would a non business person “need”internet.i am b”h in business without internet”

How did you reply this info if your above statement is true?

  5. to what:i happened to use my fathers computer for e mail.i dont even have a computer in my home.Have rachmunus on your children.

  6. #6 – not trying to minimize your sincerity in all this, but in giving us the little information that you have it seems that the internet is doing a lot of damage to you and to your marriage, and so I ask you why do you still have the darn thing. You mention that you are” in the process of getting rid of it’. I ask you how long should that process take given what its done to you. Don’t get me wrong I have an internet and I’m the last one to tell you not to have one.(and btw I can honestly say I have never gone and I don’t plan on going on any bad sites). But given that we have to hear your problems that you are having in your life as a result of the internet it just seems outrageous that you still have that darn thing. Why put yourself in that nisayon for another day?

  7. What would you say? Since last year’s asifa do more people or less people have the internet? I say more. Yeah yeah I know that some Yeshiva people may not have it. Many many more people do. We need to find ways to live safely with it. Enough of almost every person saying and signing absolute sheker on that silly ishur thing. Assume everyone has it and now let’s go to work.

  8. As I mentioned I am married. In a marriage there are two people that make decisions. My wife is not ready to fully give it up yet. I am not telling you my problems because I feel you have to hear, but rather as an inspiration to those also thinking about getting rid of it, or those (possibly woman reading at work) that are thinking about bringing it to their home. It seems so innocent but is really addicting. Your probably thinking- then why is he on right now?? Because I had to be home baby-sitting and as I said before if there is internet at home we will all go on it as much as we know we have 20 other important things to do. . . That is the power of the computer. . .

  9. According to another website, Rabbeim in Williamsburg are reporting that internet use among bochurim has skyrocketed since the Citifield asifa one year ago.

It seems that now all the buchurim want to know “what is internet” and “what is so bad?”

Obsession with anything is terrible. I hope the internet doesn’t become another obsession, like tznius became an obsession. Tznius obsession gave us the burka cults.

  10. Yes, you may have some burks whackos. However the tznius problem is very real. Everyone knows that. Of course, it’s not the only problem in the world but if we are honest about it, it’s very scary. Very troubling.

  11. Those who think I am not real can ask the moderator for my email address and Ill be glad to provide my phone number and more info. I have a 9-5 job, I wasn’t hired by TAG to comment on the Lakewood Scoop.

Zev- That is a cute idea- like going into an AA meeting and announcing- from now on “To each his own”!!

  12. Why is it so difficult for people to have self control in this town? In this day and age you NEED the internet. I know people will question this so for example: last year one day before Hurricane Sandy many people in Lakewood had no idea there was a storm coming and were not prepared. People need to read the news more, they have no clue what is happening outside the community.

  13. if the ztnuis problem would be corrected many people would not have the problems they face on the internet

i have many male clients who constantly tell this to me
