BREAKING NEWS: VIDEO & PHOTOS: Man Convicted of Shooting Multiple Lakewood Officer Sentenced to 45 Years

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS & VIDEO: Jaime Gonzalez, the man convicted of shooting multiple Lakewood Police Officers in a 2009 shootout, was sentenced moments ago to 45 years in prison. After hearing from the Defense Attorney and Prosecutor, Gonzalez himself took the stand.

“I didn’t mean for this to happen,” Gonzalez told the Judge. “I was just trying to protect my home.”

Police raided Gonzalez’s home on a no-knock warrant in the early morning hours of September 24, 2009. A gun battle of about 150 rounds ensued, and left five Lakewood Police Officers injured – four with gunshot wounds.

According to the Defense Attorney, Gonzalez, 43, claimed he didn’t know the officers conducting the no-knock warrant were indeed police, and thought it was people coming to rob him.

The Prosecutor, Michael Paulhus argued, that police – who were outfitted with uniforms which said police on them – shouted multiple times at Gonzalez that they were police, but he cursed at them and continued shooting.

The 43 year old was sobbing when he was read his sentence handed down to him by Judge Hodgson.

“The sentence is appropriate for what he did,” Prosecutor Michael Paulhus told TLS just after the sentencing.

Captain Gregory Meyer was satisfied with the outcome.

“The verdict was fitting,” said Meyer.

Gonzalez will not be eligbale for parole until 29 1/2 years are served.

He plans to appeal the sentence. [TLS]

  1. To #1: I’m glad you “love him double” and are advising him to “keep his head up”…

The advice you’re giving this monster to “keep his head up” is not very good… It didn’t work with the officers he tried to “mow down”

  2. To #1

He was an “angel” wasn’t he? You people are idiots. Even life wouldn’t suffice to punish him for what he did.

  3. Crazy Story. The guy was a known arms dealer. They should’ve shut his gas, water & electric & wait for him to crawl out. Now we have 5 wounded warriors. Sad.

  4. You (moderated) right. He is my family and you don’t know the facts. You are the (moderated). To bad I can’t say what I really want to say on hear. It’s really not worth it. But we as his family will stand by him. Double J we love you!!!

It’s funny how you go by what an article says. You should get more facts on the case ok!!

  5. Umm put your self in his shoes the guys house has been broken into an robbed multiable times he thought he was being robbed again
    What would you do

  6. Hooray, now he is way kewl! He did it! Does he get a special Honary badge from his peeps? Another lucky lifetime winner, cha Ching you won the jackpot.

  7. So what if they said they were police….how hard is it to break into someone’s house and yell “police” even if you are not the police?

  8. Here are some more facts on the case. Since u all want to judge. I have family on both sides of this case. Jaime is a well know DJ and grow up in Lakewood. Jaime never had a charge in his life. His entire basement was a studio and his equipment. With a pool table. He would DJ when he had family BBQ’s. Jaime got robbed. So he changed the knob on the front door to a dead bolt. The front door now having two dead bolts and no door knob. Once you open the front door immediately to your right is the up stairs with his room door at the top right side. He then was robbed at gun point again. So he got cameras, a vest and other stuff to protect himself. Making a bad decision to get a gun. Being robbed twice now hurt him financially. Being a DJ was his life his income his working career. Not being able to DJ cause he didn’t have all his equipment. He made bad decisions to get out of his financial hole. He was saving as much money as he could. He was one week away from going to live with out of state family members till he got financially stable again. Then a person that I will leave nameless and relation out was hooked on herion got caught in seaside selling herion to feed their addiction. To receive a lighter sentence which is what happened. Ratted on Jaime about the gun. Then three or so hours later Jaime’s house is served with a no knock warrant. Can you imagine what that sounded like breaking down a door with two dead bolts on it while you are sleeping in the early morning hours. Jaime thought he was being robbed again. Thought he had too protect himself. Sad is that the officers that served the warrant didn’t know he was robbed so many times. They didn’t know that the door had two dead bolts. Because if they had known that the front door was like that and that the stairs are right there and his room at the top. Im sure with all those facts they would of went around the back of the house smashed the sliding glass doors and went down the hall towards the front door having enough time to say police. If they did a knock warrant thing would have been so different. Jaime is not a violent person. Yes he was crying when he got sentence. Because he has never spent a single second in jail his entire life. Until now. The whole thing should of never happened. My heart goes out too everyone involved

  9. Umm put your self in his shoes the DOUBLE J house has been broken into an robbed multiable times he thought he was being robbed again
What would you do LIKE IF YALL DONT KNOW WHY HAPPEN STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM HE IS A GOOD PERSON

  10. I guess the fact that the police were making numerous controlled drug purchases from him and the fact that he had over an ounce of coke, marijuana, pills, x, and a stolen illegal gun, vest, hollow points, mean he was a good family man. (moderated) Don’t feel sad for him at all. DJ, Drug dealer, thug for life.

  11. Stop failing to post my comments. They are not offensive nor inaccurate. The Lakewood Swat team shot each other. The guy was wrong for his actions and ultimately cause the shooting but Lakewood Swat needs more firearms training.

First of all once Gonzalez fired the first shot he set into action a series of misfortune actions. But remember his bullet was the one taken out of the foot of one of the officers. His 5 bullets were all fired down towards the front door, causing injuries, not all buy bullets. Remember it was pouring rain outside, thunder, lightening, and 3am in the morning. It is easy for you to say that someone needs more training, but that was not what happened to them. So before you buy into the defense theories, a lot of things could not be brought out by the prosecutor, but in no way was it any of the officers faults. Call it Mr Murphy, but that team was tight and always will be.
Bottom line Mr Gonzalez put himself and those officers into that situation that morning, not a lack of training.
