PHOTO: An exciting camp trip to Hurricane Harbor with about 1,100 school children from several Lakewood schools was cut short after a storm hit the region.
About a half hour after children from the Lakewood Cheder, Tashbar, Orchas Chaim, YTT and others entered the water park, a strong storm moved in, prompting park officials to close down the rides and evacuate the children and staff from the premises.
Staff tell TLS the park officers had the children wait in the parking lot should be able to reopen the park, but due to the strong rains, it wasn’t an option.
The camps reportedly received a voucher for next year. [TLS-50]
better safe than sorry
They should probably have canceled the entire trip from the start being that there was a tornado watch in Ocean County from 2:00-10:00.
More like tornado harbor
Thanks TDC for taking the boys bowling – they had a great time and felt that they still had a trip!!
The camp got a voucher? Thats nice how about a reschedule for this yr?
Iits the 3 weeks!
The tornado watch did not include Ocean County or Monmoth County
so hard when trips like these get canceled.in regards to nat who thinks they should of called off the trip earlier, you cant call off a trip like this. you have to go and just hope for the best. theres no such thing as rescheduling or just coming back next week. as you see they got vouchers for NEXT YEAR. these parks are booked solid till the end of august. these reservations were probably made in november if not earlier.
to number 7:
the tornado watch DID include ocean and Monmouth county!
sorry charlie!
How about the parents who paid lots of money for thi trip, receiving a voucher from the camps for next year?
