PHOTOS & VIDEO: Rich Roberts Hosts Luncheon for U.S. Senator Rand Paul

PHOTOS & VIDEO: Rich Roberts on Monday hosted a private luncheon for U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) – son of Republican Ron Paul, a former Texas Congressman.Paul, 50, whose father ran for president in 1988 as a Libertarian, and in 2008 and 2012 as a Republican, is considered a serious Presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.

Earlier this year, Dr. Roberts sponsored a trip for Paul and 100 Evangelical leaders to Israel – a first for the Senator.  Israel.

The luncheon event Monday was attended by the Mayor and other officials and about 30 friends of Dr. Roberts.

During the luncheon, the Senator spoke about his trip to Israel, and then answered questions about policy on various topics. [TLS]

  1. All I remember is this Dr. Ron Paul trying to run for the House of Representaives from Houston. He did not win, but he eventually made it to Congress. Yes, Can’tucky is great state (‘still), but why did his son leave Texas?

  2. I was a big supporter of Rand’s father, Ron Paul, especially in 2008. Rand seems to be closer to the Republican mainstream, which is perfectly understandable – he wants to actually get things done. Tactical compromises and gradualism are perfectly reasonable, as long as you don’t lose sight of the rational ideal. I’d like to believe that he’s still a libertarian on the inside, and that it will come to the surface when the time is right…

    It sure would be nice if some of the Pauls’ love of individual liberty and free markets rubbed off on the bureaucrats here in Lakewood…
