Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato today announced arrests in Bayville, Barnegat, Lacey, and Lakewood of 19 individuals on various charges related to heroin possession and distribution. With the overdose death total rising to 60 this weekend, the Ocean County Special Operations Group Task Force with help from partnering departments continued to actively pursue those dealing heroin within the county. Below are the details of four separate operations culminating over the past weekend.

“In the same way heroin dealers are ruthless in praying on those plagued by substance addictions, I will be ruthless in pursuing and prosecuting these dealers of death,” said Prosecutor Coronato. “My Special Operation Group Task Force and supporting departments are to be commended for their courage and dedication in policing the dangerous world of the drug trade.”

On June 17, 2013 Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group along with members of the Berkeley Township Police Department obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence in Bayville NJ. As a result of the search warrant police seized approximately 100 grams of heroin, assorted paraphernalia used during the manufacturing, production and distribution of heroin, 4200 new wax folds, used to package heroin, cutting agents, assorted sifters, scales, stamps, electric grinders, and mixers. The residence was equipped with a video monitoring system to alert the occupants of anyone who may be approaching the front door of the residence. The seized heroin has a street value ranging from $22,500-$37,500. NOTE: The seized heroin recovered at the residence, once mixed and re-packaged for distribution, is capable of producing over 4000 individual dosage units of heroin. Police also seized approximately $1880 in cash. The following individuals were arrested and charged:

Dayzjuwon Johnson age 22 of Bayville NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of approximately 100 grams of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Maintaining a Fortified Structure, Maintaining a CDS (Heroin) Manufacturing Facility, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Johnson at $250,000 Cash.

Garen Luckey age 23 of Bayville NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of approximately 100 grams of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Maintaining a Fortified Structure, Maintaining a CDS (Heroin) Manufacturing Facility, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Luckey at $250,000 Cash.

JoAnna Luckey age 26 of Bayville NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of approximately 100 grams of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Maintaining a Fortified Structure, Maintaining a CDS (Heroin) Manufacturing Facility, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Ms. Luckey at $250,000 Cash.

William Kablis age 28 of Manchester NJ was charged with Conspiracy to Possess Heroin. Mr. Kablis was released on his own recognizance.

Anthony Schroen age 27 of Toms River NJ was charged with Conspiracy to Possess Heroin. Mr. Schroen was released on his own recognizance.

Assisting in the investigation as well as the execution of the search warrants were members of the Berkeley Township Police Department, the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s department K-9 Unit.

On June 15, 2013 after a short-term investigation, Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group along with members of the Barnegat Township Police Department obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence in Barnegat NJ. As a result of the search warrant police seized approximately 50 bags of Heroin along with a loaded Highpoint 9mm handgun. Police also seized assorted 9mm ammunition. The subject of the investigation, George Burke age 31 of Barnegat was not home at the time of the execution of the search warrant. Arrest warrants charging Mr. Burke with Possession of heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a CDS Offense, and Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm were filed. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski JSC set bail for Mr. Burke at $150,000 cash only.

Assisting in the investigation as well as the execution of the search warrants were members of the Barnegat Township Police Department, the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit.

On June 14, 2013 at 7:15 pm the members of the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Southern Enforcement Unit armed with arrest warrants and a search warrant executed a motor vehicle stop on a silver 2005 Hyundai XG5 at the intersection of Route 9 and Jones Road in Lacey Township. At the time of the stop, a brown Volkswagen Jetta was observed meeting with Tracey Beard and Jason Wilkens, who occupied the Hyundai. Police officers approached both vehicles and as a result of the stops arrested Tracey Beard a.k.a Tracey Gettis and Jason Wilkens on outstanding warrants for Distribution of Heroin, as well as, the four occupants of the Jetta. A search of the Hyundai recovered a quantity of Heroin and a Hypodermic syringe. Police also conducted a search of the Volkswagen Jetta and recovered approximately 20 bags of heroin and a small amount of marijuana.

The following individuals located in the Hyundai were arrested and charged as follows:

Tracey Beard a.k.a.Tracey Gettis age 42 of Bayville NJ was charged with three counts each of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of Heroin. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Ms. Beard at $50,000 no ten percent.

Jason Wilkins age 42 of Bayville NJ was charged with two counts each of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of Heroin. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Wilkens at $50,000 no ten percent.

The following individuals located in the Volkswagen were arrested and charged as follows:

Carmen Varga age 35 of Toms River NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Varga was released on his own recognizance.

Shawn G. Schenck age 36 of Charlotte NC was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Schenck was released on his own recognizance.

Brooke A. Johnson age 25 of Toms River NJ was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ms. Johnson was released on her own recognizance.

Haskell T. Williams age 21 of Columbia SC was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Williams was released on his own recognizance.

Assisting in the investigation as well as the execution of the search warrants were members of the Lacey Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit.

Also on June 14, 2013 during the early morning hours after a two month investigation, Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group along with members of the Lakewood Township Police Department obtained and executed a search warrant for Apartments on County Line Road, Lakewood NJ. As a result of the search warrant, police seized approximately 500 bags of Heroin, a loaded Highpoint .380 caliber handgun, and a small amount of marijuana.

The following individuals were located in Apartment 2 and were subsequently arrested and charged:

Marcus Samuels age 25 of Lakewood NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a CDS Offense, Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm, and two counts each of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of Heroin. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Samuels at $350,000 Cash.

Cristen Reebe age 23 of Forked River NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a CDS Offense, Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm, and two counts each of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of Heroin. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Ms. Reebe at $75,000 Cash.

Isaac Ross age 30 of South Toms River NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a CDS Offense, Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm, and two counts each of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of Heroin. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Ross at $175,000 Cash.

The following individuals were located in Apartment 1 and were subsequently arrested and charged:

Jamar Johnson age 34 of Lakewood NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Marijuana. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Johnson at $100,000 no ten percent.

Dawn Rosser age 32 of Lakewood NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Ms. Rosser at $100,000 no ten percent.

Arrin Gattling age 21 of Whiting NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Marijuana. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Gattling at $35,000 no ten percent.

Davonte Howard age 22 of Asbury Park NJ was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Marijuana. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC set bail on Mr. Howard at $50,000 no ten percent.

Mathew Cox age 27 of Jackson NJ was charged with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe and was released on a summons.
