Father of Yosef Meir Berger Z’L Addresses Son’s Graduating Class

PHOTO: The father of Habachur Yosef Meir Berger Z’L, Reb Ezra Berger, addressed the class of Yeshivas Kol Torah – the class which Yosef Meir was a part of until his Petirah last year.

During the brief address, Reb Ezra spoke about the connection Yosef Meir had with the class while he was in Yeshivah, and the connection his family kept with the class even after Yosef Meir’s Petirah – just one week after his Bar Mitzvah. Reb Ezra related how the Bachurim would come join the Bergers’ Shabbos meals, in an effort to keep up with Yosef Meir’s family.

Yosef Meir was taken from us at the tender young age of 13 following a tragic accident.

Reb Ezra ended his Divrei Chizuk by asking the boys to keep with them the special traits Yosef Meir possessed, as well as encouraging the boys to have added Kavana during the Mitzvah or Tfillin – the Mitzvah Yosef Meir had just begun.

As a Zchus for Yosef Meir Z’L, the family began a Tfillin awareness campaign regarding speaking Sichas Chulin in Tfillin. Signs about the campaign are hanging in Shuls throughout Lakewood.

Just before Shvuos, a Hachnosas Sefer Torah was held at the Yeshivah in his memory.

  1. Ezra and Miriam, we all look up to to you. Although it’s been so hard on you, the strength and emunah you have displayed ever since the beginning have been so inspiring. It has made us ALL look so small and insignificant in comparison. The verse Bekroivei Ekadeish is truly appropriate here. May you continue to have the necessary strength to continue being mekadesh Shem shamayim!

  2. Ezra & Miriam – u guys are the best. Altho I try to be positive so I won’t be like a previous poster who feels “small” & “insignificant” next to you, I just feel honored to know you. Also, I know ur a fleishigs guy – I’m making a siyum. I’ll txt u the details. Chazak V’nischazek !! db

  3. R’ Ezra has set the bar above and beyond any other level….we have to all learn from this family how to respond to tragedy! May that be a zchus for the young pure neshama and their entire family!
