PHOTO: The intersection of Monmouth Avenue and 7th Street was partially striped this morning ahead of the planned 4-way stop to be unveiled on Monday.
The critical change was implemented by the Committee following the recommendation of the Traffic & Safety division. The study was prompted following complaints from motorists who found the intersection – as well as the Princeton Avenue intersection – too congested and difficult to pass during rush hours.
The Monday following, the intersection of Hillside Boulveard and Kelm Way in Westgate, will also be getting a 4-way stop to ease congestion and increase the traffic flow.
The Princeton Avenue 4-way was completed on Monday.
Rules for 4-way: The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right of way to a vehicle which has entered the intersection. When 2 vehicles enter an intersection at the same time the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the right of way to the driver of the vehicle on the right. TLS]
His right or my right ?
I’ve noticed on Princeton Ave. MANY drivers are unaware and do NOT stop!
Here’s an idea, instead of lpd “educating”the public about pedestrian crossing law, they should educate on how to use a 4 way stop sign.
Actually, it is a drivers responsibility to know how to navigate a 4 way stop. You need to know this BEFORE you get a license. That is why there is a test. Educate yourself about EVERYTHING before you drive. We seem to be ignorant (or just don’t care) in this town when it comes to the rules of the road.
there should MANY warning signs indicating that a stop sign has been installed. this electronic machines that flash text should be there for the first month.!!!!!
Maybe people just need to pay attention. DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD, EVEN FOR ONE MINUTE!
