He is being transported to JS Medical Center in critical condition.

Sources say the victim is approximately 24 years old.

CIU and Detectives have responded to the scene.

The suspect is at large, and police have blocked off both entrances to the development – on Prospect Street and Massachusets Avenue – in an attempt to locate the suspect.

  1. We have areas of Chicago and Trenton in Lakewood. just know where you are going….We can couint on the fingers how many areas in Lakewood yoiu should be careful about.

  2. I hear it was a young man called (moderated) .. About 24 yrs old… And then a shooting somewhere else and some huge gang fight.. Lakewood is nuts

  3. #6 I think the township committee needs to hire more cops. The police force is at its all time low. There are 30 less cops today then there was 10 years ago

  4. I feel scared to walk the streets and don’t see alot of police patrol. Lakewoood need more cops to patrol to make us feel safe and deter crime

  5. To all of Lakewood newcomers ,that area has been problematic for the past twenty five years nothing to be shocked about . Great job Lpd for reducing such incidents .

  6. Can someone please explain. If there were 50 more cops on duty how would that have prevented this? Police can’t be all over all the time. Shootings like this need not worry us they are usually gang on gang shootings as long as they are not starting with us it’s not great but not that bad

  7. 17 because since LPD have lost a lot of officers who retired, they are short staffed so hiring more could place an officer at high point for the whole shift.
