PHOTO: Google’s Street View Car Gathers Data in Lakewood

PHOTO: Google Maps Street View car was in Lakewood today gathering data to update their Street View maps. What does the car do?

The vehicle, equipped with cameras, GPS devices, sensors and other equipment, drives around and gathers photos and data to provide Google Map users with a 360 degree view of a particular area within their Street View program.

Google currently has these vehicles driving around dozens of states throughout the Country. [TLS]

  1. I saw my sons in Eretz Yisroel in front of my son’s apt. house. I could make out who they were. I don’t appreciate Google’s spy car taking all these pictures. I don’t think it is good for our security.

  2. Maybe that person had a blurry face?
Don’t you like any person from anywhere can log on and type in your address and get a relativity current picture of your house? We can see our vans in our driveway?

  3. i cant wait till lkwd will finally have streetview! I love driving down the streets on my comp screen, get to check out ppl’s houses, its so cool!

  4. I wonder if Google StreetView will provide a real-life driving experience for its StreetView users. Basic real-life driving experiences like: heavy traffic, being cut off by harried drivers, being tailgated by obnoxious drivers, not stopping by stop-signs, etc. You know, just the basics.

  5. Not only was it gathering map data it was also connecting to every wifi connection within range and downloading everyone’s browsing history and personal info and giving it to the NSA
