Homeless Man Found Dead

PHOTO: A homeless man was found dead this afternoon, officials confirm to TLS.

The man, described as approximately 49 years old, was found dead at about 1:25 PM just outside a tent alongside the tracks off of Ocean Avenue – an area known as the ‘original Tent City’.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead on the scene.

Sources say the man, who frequented the local hospitals, was released just yesterday from the hospital.

CIU and the Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the death. [TLS-46/TLS-CCP]

    • It’s really not a choice I have met several of the people from tent city and they were staying the For multipal reason and no in my eyes were by choice. I pray for you and #2. I don’t beleave anyone would make a choice to be homeless in NJ speacially with our winters…

  1. To ANON
I think number 2 was showing a lot of compassion! He wants to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else in Tent City. That’s why he is saying “we should get them all out of there”. Please show some respect and be understanding.

  2. I feel sorry for this person. I’m sure he didn’t choose to be homeless! I wish we would stop sending our tax dollars overseas and use it to help our own people! How can we help everyone else when there are many AMERICANS without jobs, food or shelter.

  3. Dear Friends:

It is with great sorrow that I write this message. It is a crying shame that the city of Lakewood and County of Ocean have not been able to place some of the homeless people from Tent City in the past 10 months!!!

The problem has existed for more than 5 years but the city of Lakewood pledged to move the residents out of Tent City within a year. That pledge was made about 8 months ago. I know of 5-7 homeless who have been ready to move into suitable housing for more than 5 months… What is the problem???

The homeless man found dead by the train tracks the other night was a dear person to me, who I was trying to help over the past two years!!! How many more deaths do we have to experience before we put our money where our mouth is.

Let us not forget Gods forgotten people. At this rate, we are moving the homeless out of Tent City faster through death than by relocation through suitable housing. Its outrageous and a total disrespect for human life…

  4. Did any one stop to think the man had a heart attack and that he was having chest pains for 3 days before he died and even went to the er the night before and was discharged without proper treatment whether the man had a million dollar or no dollars he was still a life and even though he was poor he was a nice person and a part of our community

  5. Numb 11 – pointing thie finger again blamming the hospital for not treating him. I guess you are in the know.

How about that he chose to leave the hospital Emergency room and not take the further care because he did not want to stay. I brought him home and begged him not to leave the Emergency depart.

You know you are just looking to blame everyone else because that is all you do.

  6. I called the er and they said he was treated and released so y dont u or anyone else shut up if u dont have anything nice to say i guess ur mamas never taught you that lesson in life

  7. The residents of Tent City need a proper home. May G-d remember him for his good deeds, and forgive the sins. This is America , and no one should be homeless.
