UPDATED: VIDEO & PHOTOS: Lakewood Sends Mutual Aid for Massive Seaside Park Blaze

PHOTOS: A massive fire in Seaside Park which began earlier this afternoon, has turned into a 10-alarm fire being fueled by winds, officials said.

The fire reportedly started at an ice cream shop near Funtown Pier, and quickly spread to over a dozen nearby buildings. The massive blaze prompted the evacuation of a large stretch of the boardwalk.

Dozens of area businesses have been ruined or severely affected.

The blaze has prompted the response from nearly every municipality in the County, including from Lakewood.

Hundreds of firefighters and emergency personnel are on scene battling the blaze.

Lakewood Police, Lakewood EMS and Lakewood First Aid are on scene.

There are no reports of any serious injuries.

  1. Lets us not bash each other…. This was such a horrible and devastating thing that once again has happened to the Jersey Shore. I have memories of this boardwalk dating back to the 60’s and I could just cry. Thank God nobody was killed or injured severely. Thank you first responders once again for your dedication and for all you do. Stay safe……

  2. To Anon #4- No one knows how it started the OC Pros Office Arson Team, OC Fire Marshals, NJ State Fire Marshals Office and the Federal ATF Arson Team are investigating now..hopefully in a week they will have an answer but its a large debris field to look at..even where the fire originated is still a mess.
When they know they will tell everyone else..maybe
