In observance of Labor Day, Township Offices will be closed Monday. Federal and State agencies are also closed. Courts – both local and State – are closed.
There will be no trash pickup on Monday. Monday’s garbage and recycling will be picked up on Tuesday. Tuesday’s garbage and recycling will be picked up on Wednesday. There will be no bulk collection this week.

Labor day is always observed on the first Monday of Sept. Always has been and more than likely always will be. Yes government workers do work.

We never pick up trash, pave the roads, plow the snow, break up fights, arrest murderers, preform rescues, fight fires, chase after loose dogs, teach kids, perform cpr, extricate victims, inspect buildings for safety, investigate crimes and all the accidents in Lakewood. Do you even pay taxes?
Yes u pick up garbage, preform cpr, teach kids, chase loose dogs etc… But what does that have to do with the amount of times you have off paid sick and paid vacation and all types of other paid and then pension!!
Sick days were made if you get sick not that u should have another 20 paid vacation days!!
Why do I see some twp employees taking a sick day and then enjoying their vacation! Don’t they realize everyone in town pays their salary!!! Yes we pay them to collect our garbage and patrol our streets!
Why is it that some twp offficials have accumilated crazy amounts in sick and vacation days and are getting crazy payouts when they retire??
Ill leave Mr Govt. Employee with this ” do we not work hard for our money too? Does our tax dollars not mean anything to you? Why do you abuse it??

Your 100% correct but it’s not this government workers fault. Its corruption in government in general and if you want to point blame you can start with the unions continue to politicians. But you need to remember that these employees basically have no boss. because the boss is also just another government worker.
Isn’t it the Government that helps you get your food and housing at a cheaper rate than those that work a 40 hour week and deserve a vacation and some sick time?
