PHOTO: 3 Injured, 1 Critical, in Route 70 Crash

PHOTOS: Three people were injured this morning, one of them critical, in a crash on Route 70 early this morning, Traffic & Safety Sergeant Frank Work tells TLS.

The crash occurred at about 6:27 AM, when a driver heading Southbound over Route 70 at Airport Road failed to stop at the light, crashing into a vehicle traveling Eastbound, Work says.

In an attempt to move his vehicle out of the way, the driver of the Southbound vehicle collided with another vehicle traveling Westbound (red minivan).

The driver of the Southbound vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt, says Work, and by the time emergency personnel arrived, the driver was found laying in the roadway, though it’s unclear if he was ejected or he got out of his vehicle and then passed out, says Sgt. Work.

The driver laying on the road was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center with critical injuries, while the others were transported with non-life threatening injuries, Work said.

Traffic & Safety officers as well as CIU officers are investigating the crash.

Route 70 was closed Westbound for over five hours while officials investigated the accident. [TLS-RK/TLS-CCP]
