On October 13, at approx 10:15 pm, Officers from the Police Department received information from a concerned citizen that a Tent City resident named Luis was selling drugs.
Further investigation resulted in the identification of Luis Torres, of Tent City, as the suspect. Officers DelValle, Messer and Buble spoke with him regarding the information they received.
Mr. Torres consented to a search of his tent where 38 packets of Heroine, marijuana and 15 hypodermic needles were seized.
He was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances, possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $30,000 no 10% and is currently in Ocean County Jail. [TLS]

Im sure that in the agreement they stipulated that any illegal activity disqualifies you from assistance and placement from the Lakewood taxpayers.
I would venture to guess that if they checked all of the tents they would find a lot more of this stuff.

#15, Chris is trying and he is trying to help you get rid of tent city, but it seems that he needs a home he can afford. Is there anyway Lakewood could give him a section 8 voucher? “Minister” Brigham is misleading everyone- TC residents were offered housing BUT Brigham turned it down. How can anyone in their right mind turn down housing assistance ? Brigham is fighter for shelter, but when shelter was offered he rejected , since the TC residents will no longer be under his control. Maybe LKWD needs to put cameras in TC.
It is time to get rid of tent city. Make sure you all attend the trial of Brigham, and see how he harasses and uses other TC residents to do his dirty work , and how he intimidates the TC residents who choose to cooperate with medical personnel and police . One woman was foaming at the mouth but Brigham told people she does need the squad, well she was having a heart attack and almost died – now has pacemaker. If TC residents listened to Brigham she would have died.
Keeping Tent City opens serves no purpose , except to glorify Steve Brigham- well self glorify. He is not a typicall minister. Most residents want to get into permanent housing , and Steve prevented that by refusing housing from Judge Foster . Brigham has NO experience dealing PROPERLY with addicts- he is the biggest enabler in Tent City. Brigham gives them food, shelter, so any money earned is spent on drugs. If Brigham DID NOT provide food and housing, the addicts would hit their bottom and seek help .Get rid of Brigham before he kills more people by freezing temperatures, drugs and alcohol , murder or self murder ( suicide). Hi Chris, you need to write Judge Foster in Tom’s River and let him know how you are being harassed by Minister Steve ( I presume that is what is happening). He will read your letter during the next court hearing. Ask Foster when the housing is coming through. Minister Steve know what is going on, he also knows that is why they stay- he is an enabler. If you have a problem with substances, you can call the county and they can get you placed ( but it takes months) . Please stay safe, I feel bad for you.

Number 11, you are so right. I called the (moderated) Press to do a real story and they refused. They say they only want to write their slant on things . They keep promoting TC as being a safe, clean place, but it is far from the truth. One Tent City resident stripped all the copper plumbing out of the houses on Vine St. One stole a Jewish book , another broke into a Jewish school and stole a torah. TC is really detrimental to the residents of Lakewood
Reverend Steven Brigham is not heling the residentsof tc in any way. He is an enabler and has his own agenda. Tc is filthy and infested with drugs and alcohol addicted people. 90 % of the people here spend all their money on drugs and alcohol and he tries to tell everyon different and its a lie. He isnt a true minisyter a real minister would help us. he gets money and spends it on himself people should not even donate here.The so called Reverend needs to be taken out of here and people need to get the real help they need. He keeps us here for his own personal needs and doesnt care about helping the homeless. if he did he would be involved with people who are really trying to help. He is all about media and and attention to himself we do not want this kind of attention any longer get the media out of here and start getting the people of tent city the help they really need befor we all freeze to death this winter.
Tent City needs to come to an end sooner than later!
