PHOTO: What was believed to be a structure fire prompted all of Lakewood’s fire companies to respond to a home on River Avenue this evening. It turns out that it was a kitchen on fire, Sergeant Maureen McGilloway tells TLS.

The fire was called in about 5:20 PM, and was brought under control before it could spread to the rest of the home.

The Fire Marshals are on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

The family was displaced due to the severity of the damage.

River Avenue is shut near Prospect Street for the activity.
