The Lakewood Fire Department has called for the State’s Forest Fire Service to respond to the area of River Avenue and Finchley Blvd for a brush fire in the area.

The fire was called in about 2 PM.

Motorists are reporting a heavy smoke condition in the area, as well as heavy traffic backups.

A ‘red flag’ warning was issued in the State today. A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels. Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain. [TLS. File photo]
