CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Alleged Drunk Hit and Run Suspect Arrested at Gunpoint

DUI Hit Run Suspect Arrested at GunpointVIDEO: An alleged drunk driver involved in a hit and run crash was arrested last night at gunpoint, as first reported on our News Alerts.

Police were called at about 9:45 p.m. after a crash which occurred in the downtown area involving a possible drunk driver. After crashing into a vehicle, the alleged drunk driver fled the scene – with heavy front-end damage to the vehicle.

Multiple officers responded to the area, and located the driver driving along Clifton Avenue – reportedly swerving in and out of oncoming traffic.

In an attempt to stop the driver and prevent any further crashes, an Officer  – who had his lights and sirens on but failed to get the driver to stop – pulled in front of the car. The alleged drunk driver kept driving, hitting the officer’s vehicle.

The officer – Officer Macerino – got out of his vehicle, grabbed his gun and pointed it at the driver, ordering him from the vehicle. When he failed to do so, the officer opened the door and dragged him out. He was immediately cuffed and arrested.

The car, rolling after the driver was pulled out, was quickly stopped by Officer Marrero. Officer Young also assisted in the arrest. [TLS]

  1. Officer Macerino is a hero to the community. It was not too long ago that he helped my family one Shabbos evening with a flat tire. I think he should be sent straight to the Street Crimes division with Sgt. Humbitty and Detective Frink.

    Kudos to 326!

  2. I am proud of our police department. Look what they have to deal with , on a regular basis. To # 5. I am curious myself as well if this perp is another undocumented illegal alien, perhaps with the usual PA plates.
    MMMMMMMMMM.

  3. That Homeland Security Unit is really prestigious from what I gather. Sgt. Butterworth and Sgt. Desimone will be a really dynamic tag team.

  4. To Libby and Rashalm:
Sgt Butterworth works Midnights 9p – 7a he is not as far anyone knows working in Homeland Security. He is a midnight supervisor assigned to patrol.
