NJSP Cautions: As Temperatures Fall, Risk of Black Ice Increases

icy roads tlsThe New Jersey State Police has issued a warning to drivers to use extreme caution when traveling on the roads this evening, because of the risk of black ice.

The NJSP responded to 140 crashes today, and 250 aid calls – as of 5 PM.

Temperatures will fall below freezing tonight, so any untreated standing water or slush will freeze and cause slippery traveling conditions – especiall on less-traveled roads.

Temperatures tonight will drop to 23, Wednesday will see a high of 32, and Wednesday night will drop to 17, according to the National Weather Service. [TLS]
