Bais Pinchos: The Mesivta Has Moved on, Yet Bais Pinchos Continues to Flourish

bais pinchosBais Pinchos, which was the home to Rabbi Licht’s Yeshivah for many years, released the following statement to TLS following the announcement of the closing of Rabbi Licht’s Yeshivah on Friday.

“Bais Pinchos and its affiliates began over 33 years ago under the leadership of Horav Shmuel Shmelke Pinter under the name of Kahal Shomrei Hadas. Under his leadership developed a makom torah utefilla, a night kollel as well as a kollel choshen mishpat which is still active today.

As the mosed branched out and established itself in Lakewood as Bais Pinchos, over 10 years ago, it initiated a mesivta, under the direction of its roshei hayeshiva, Horav Yaakov Licht and Horav Binyomin Nierenberg.

The mesivta has recently moved on. Yet, Bais Pinchos continues to flourish.

Its state of the art building, located at on 1951 New Central Ave, contains 2 batei medrash, yeshiva facilities, dormitory and a mikva, which is used by over 300 local residents each week. The kol torah reverberates throughout the building for some 18 hours a day from the voices of a post high school yeshiva and three kollelim housed on its premises. Also in the building is an active shul of b’nei torah. In addition, Bais Pinchos supplies over a hundred meals a week to patients of local hospitals, and has just recently opened the doors to its new linas hachesed, for those recovering from medical situations.

As the demand continues to grow, Bais Pinchos looks for new ways to meet the needs of the community. One of its immediate considerations are to establish an eighth grade and mesivta for parents that want to provide their children with a heimish environment based on the pre war yeshiva of Bikovsk and Rav Pinters ancestors of Ropshittz and Rav Shmelke of Nikolsberg. The yeshiva will learn in the tradition of mainstream yeshivos but put an emphasis on retaining the flavor of our mesorah.”
