PHOTOS: School Bus Plows Into Railroad Tracks and Woods

busPHOTOS: A school bus driver was luckily not seriously hurt when his bus crashed into the railroad tracks and into the woods this evening.

The accident occurred about 8:15 PM when the driver reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Cross Street and Prospect Avenue. After blowing the stop sign, the bus reportedly then continued into the railroad tracks and took out a Conrail structure before coming to a stop in the woods.

There were no students on board at the time.

It took about two hours for crews to remove the bus, which was severely damaged in the crash.

The crash is under investigation. [TLS]

Second time in a week that a school bus ran a stop sign and had a wreck. So far we have been lucky, no students on the buses. Next time we may not be as lucky. Time fore the police to start cracking down on these bus driverd and for the NJ State Police commerical vehicle unit to come in to check drivers and buses before a student is killed.
