Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz to Participate in ‘The Accelerator’ Panel at Parnassah Expo; Panel Will Offer Business Up to $500,000

rechnitzIt’s not every day that some of the most successful businesspeople in the United States offer you a conversation about a potential partnership with you – and put their money where their mouth is.

But that will be a reality next Wednesday afternoon (March 26th), the second day of the 2014 Parnassah Expo at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison.

Noted healthcare mogul and philanthropist Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz and several other entrepreneurs and investors will form the panel for “The Accelerator,” and will be prepared to offer up to $500,000 (each) for a share in one or more of the seven businesses selected to present to the panel on the expo floor.

A slew of existing businesses seeking this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity have already applied for the opportunity on Parnassah Expo’s website, and applications are still being accepted. The Accelerator is a project of Parnassah Network’s venture capital services, a year-round service to help match investors with suitable ventures, and merely one of the many exciting and promising expo features.

“The response has, baruch Hashem, been overwhelming,” says Parnassah Expo founder and director Reb Duvi Honig. “Look, who in the business world isn’t looking to innovate and rise with the stars?”

  1. As the saying goes ” the rich get richer and the poor…… Who is doing anything out there for the struggling families in our midst , never mind all these business that just want to make more money? its a very fair question to be asked…..anyone???

  2. Anon:

For people struggling, some times it is an issue of finding a job. Other times it is an issue of a struggling business. Just because someone has a business does not mean that he is wealthy. He may not be able to pay his bills.

So, a networking event is very good for anyone in business, rich or poor. If a struggling family has a business that wont get off the ground, or is doing well but has some issue, and a wealthy guy has the connections, or money or whatever to help him through, he will ask for a cut of the business and give the guy the money to help him grow his business – provided that he feels that its right for him, and that he can make money on it as well.

Connecting Jewish businesses is a great idea. It can help Jews who have money and who do not.

  3. #4. I think what #1 means is rather than just pumping for example another 500k into an exiising nursing home owned by some wealthy individual how about offer a 500K to that nursing home if they hire 10 frum yidden. Yes yidden cost more. Its a huge headache to hire yidden. Yiddisha nurses can’t work on shabbos and yomim tovim etc.. But think about how many families you can support. Helping yidden earn a parnasa is far greater than donating profits from a nursing home to Tomechai shabbos. Not to belittle Tomechai shabbos in any way.And so even if it costs more to hire yidden and drives profits down its the greatest chesed out there.

  4. #1 and #5

    got it

what i think you are missing is

Mr Rechnitz is not looking to dole out money JUST to hire etc

that would be a unsustainable subsidy that would have short term help and long term headaches

what he most probably wants is to give a new guy a chance to rocket to the top and hopefully be a baal parnassah that can one day pass along that half a million

  5. You people are all missing the boat.

Reb SY and the panel will give people that have an interesting idea or like they like to call it in Lakewood a chap that they would each like to invest 500k into and become a partner.

I know we all want free $$$ and you are welcome every Motzei shabos in LA to see how many hundreds of people and mosdos receive free $$$ from Reb SY at his home.

He isn’t going to hire any of you clowns that think because you are a RN or an LNHA you are entitled to a job. Rather send in an application and if you are takka serious about it and qualified I’m sure you will get an interview.

Yes being frum isn’t an easy hire but some people feel that they deserve every erev Yom tov, every isru chag, every 3rd cousins chasuna and every yarchei kalla is something that they must attend and take a day off of work for just realize you are the ones that made yourself a difficult hire.

I personally employ many frum people but they all know their boundaries on when they can and can’t take off and what’s acceptable or not. The ones that couldn’t figure it out were shown the door.

    Hatzlacha to all

  6. I don’t think the guy was asking for jobs for the poor. He was asking for free money for the poor. This is the mentality that brought communism to Russia, and will bring down America too.

People don’t want to work hard anymore for a living. They want it all for free.

Of course the rich get richer. And the poor who work hard get richer too. Its the poor who don’t work who get poorer. (Were you able to follow that?!) Duh, this used to be common sense.

  7. Nice bells and whistles, but people need regular, reliable, well-paying jobs. And employers need capable, educated workers with a genuine work ethic. There are no short cuts or cutting corners.

  8. #8 Mr. Geferlach.

I take it from your comment that you feel many frum people take advantage of the “frum” excuse and miss work quite often due to being “frum”. Okay point well taken. And no frum employee should overuse the frum excuse.
But this should in no way means or shape be a reason for a frum employer not to hire a frum worker. In fact I work at a secular Fortune 500 (probably 100 too) corporation. My work has a work from home policy. Many goysha workers will not come in if there dog is sick, (let alone if they have a slit cold) the week of a holiday, a family wedding etc.. Thus, based on what I see I do not see abuse by the frum olim anything more than in the secular world. Bottom line it boils down to who you hire and not the employee’s religousty.
(If anything the frum are more dedicated even with missing on issru chag)
And so I repeat again frum nusring home owners chap arin and hire from RN’s.
