A crowd of over 25 Lakewood residents gathered this week to hear about the wonderful life and opportunities that are a reality in Eretz Yisroel today.
After conducting personal meetings, Avi Silverman from NBN gave a thorough presentation covering a wide range of topics including schooling, communities, jobs and more to the group – which consisted of people making Aliyah and those considering permanent relocation to Eretz Yisroel.
The event took place at an ‘Aliyah Open House’ in Beacon Ridge.

Living in Eretz Yisroel is actually an obligatory Mitzvah according to the GR”A, Chasam Sofer, Tashabatz, Chazon Ish, R’ Ovadaya Yosef, R’ Shlomo Zalman Aurbach and more…..
I bet more people would consider aliyah if they knew their children wouldn’t be forced to leave yeshiva to serve in the IDF. Making criminals out of those who refuse to leave their batei medrash for the army isn’t an inducement neither is the sinat chinum towards chareidim practiced by some MKs.

We were taken out of Mitzrayim to go to the “Eretz asher einei H’ tamid…” May the zechus of such a gathering bring b’nisan n’galu u’binisan asidin l’hegael.
People BEWARE:
There’s a disproportionally high rate of children at risk of children of American parents that made Aliyah.
One should ask a smart Yid advice before making Aliyah.

To the “people be aware comment” Firstly you be aware not to sound like the miraglim. Secondly although there are at risk kids, most of them are still in a better place in regard to their connection to yiddishkeit speak to those involved with working with youth. Thirdly in chutz laaretz we are all at risk relative to the kedusha and avoda that they live with in E’Y. Ask daas torah before you say anything negative about E’Y. Nbn may be right on that one.
That’s why anybody who knows the situation will tell you to never make aliyah once your kids are over 10. Throwing a kid older than 10 in a totally new environment and culture is bound to problematic. That’s why you have a limited Window of opportunity to make aliyah. Your next opportunity will be in many years when your kids are out of the house. That should hopefully be a motivating factor for those who understand the tremendous privilege of living in our land bit find it difficult to make the commitment.
7+ years ago, I met Rav Pinchas Scheinberg זצ״ל in Lakewood. I asked him about moving to ארץ ישראל. He replied “one cannot ignore the רמב״ן who holds that it is a מצוה דאורייתא at all times, and therefore I should do it.” I then asked him “but people say that it is not good for kids after a certain age (my daughters were just בת מצוה).” He responded “that is all Shtusim! It is the עצת מרגלים that is spoken by the ערב רב.”
This is a follow-up to my previous comment. After having spoken with Rav Scheinberg, We decided to move to ארץ ישראל. We could not be happier with the way things turned out ב״ה. The education my daughters have received both in Torah and other studies has been amazing. Their friends are wonderful young women, with incredible יראת שמים, מדות and refinement. We have also kept the other advice of Rav Sceinberg, who told us “וראה בטוב ירושלים”. This makes an incredible difference in the effects on the couple and the children. For those who want to raise their familiy in א”י, it is important to raise the children to expect to live in ארץ ישראל rather than חוץ לארץ. When the family then moves, the children are more on board with the family decision. Raising children with the concrete expectation of living in ארץ ישראל may better prepare them for the life of רוחניות that is available to them in ארץ ישראל and connect them less to the more materialistic surroundings of חוץ לארץ.
